The Walking Dead Season 7 Premiere to See Two Halves of the Story, Reveals Series Creator, And More

The Season 7 premiere of the post-apocalyptic horror survival drama TV series “The Walking Dead” on AMC is still long ways off but the internet is already abuzz with what fans would expect in light of the spine-tingling Season 6 finale shown in March.

The biggest question among fans is who among the key characters from Rick Grimes’ group did Negan, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, battered to a pulp with his barbed wire-laced baseball bat named Lucille.

Based on the comic books, it is going to be Glenn. However, there have been recent rumors that it could also be Abraham because he and Carl were the only ones from those people kneeling before Negan who appears not bothered with their situation as they even look ready to revolt on short notice.

In a recent session of Reddit Ask Me Anything, “The Walking Dead” creator Robert Kirkman may have revealed something that fans should expect when Season 7 of the popular TV series returns to the small screen in October.

Kirkman did not reveal who Negan killed but he dropped a major hint about the TV series when he said that the Season 7 premiere will enable fans to see the two halves of the story, which would allow them to see why the showrunners did what they did during the Season 6 finale, reports Cleveland.

The series creator also explained that co-showrunner Scott Gimple and he have spent many months going over exactly how to stage the Series 6 finale and the Season 7 premiere before they finally let it fly.

The toss-up is on Glenn and Daryl

However, some critics believe that the casualty during the Season 6 finale could actually be a toss-up between Glenn and Daryl.

Apparently, the ‘point-of-view’ theory has started circulating online which somehow makes sense from a director’s perspective.

The Negan kill scene was shot from the first-person point of view of the victim but fans should recall that it was not the first time that the series featured the type of shot. During the Season 6 finale, it could be recalled that fans also saw the same shot when glimpses of what turned out to be the inside of a van where Rosita, Daryl, Michonne, and Glenn were being held. It was only towards the end when fans realized that it was a van alright when it was finally opened.

Thus, the assumption is that one of those four characters would be the victim of Negan and the guesses have since been divided between Glenn and Daryl.

However, the showrunners would certainly not lose Daryl since he is the most popular character in the TV series and doing so would create an uprising from fans for sure. With that being said, the first-person point of view of the victim theory only reinforces the rumors that it will be Glenn and not Daryl who will take the rap.

It could also be recalled during the Season 6 finale that he tried to stop Negan from hurting Maggie so he is really a prime favorite to be Lucilled.

Coping with his guilt

More than the casualty of Negan in the Season 7 premiere, the big storyline for the upcoming season of “The Walking Dead” is how Rick, played by Andrew Lincoln, would cope with his guilt especially after realizing that his group lost its major battle to the Saviors, notes Cinema Blend.

During the Reddit forum, one fan said that Rick will be totally broken with the events after Negan kills one of them. Kirkman said that it’s a fair assumption and then adding that the premiere episode of Season 7 is going to be hard for everyone, especially on Rick.

Critics believe that Rick will be at the precipice of yet another mental breakdown in Season 7, which already happened twice in Season 1 and in Season 5, more so now that he loses one of his own people and half of their supplies to Negan.

Incidentally, other than Glenn as the likely victim of Negan, there were also rumors suggesting that it would not be Glenn who would be battered by Negan but actually Abraham, played by Michael Cudlitz.

It was actually an insider from the set of “The Walking Dead” who reportedly confirmed to a tabloid that it would be Abraham who will die at the hands of Negan and Lucille.

According to the source from the set, Abraham is the biggest guy in the group so Negan taking him out sends a clear and loud message to Rick and everyone else.
