The post-apocalyptic survival horror drama TV series “The Walking Dead” on AMC is holding on to its Season 6 cliffhanger the way HBO’s “Game of Thrones” did last year with that Jon Snow dead or alive question at the end of its Season 5.
With the show’s upcoming participation in the San Diego ComicCon, fans are hoping that the cast members and the executive producers would provide a major tease on who is going to be the victim of Negan, played in the TV series by Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
To spice up the TV series’ participation in the upcoming ComicCon, the show released a teaser photo last week and gave fans a grisly taste of what is going to happen in the Season 7 premiere of “The Walking Dead,” notes The Wrap.
The photo shows Negan, with his back to the camera, standing in front of the 11 of the people of Rick Grimes including Rick.
One of the eleven is the victim of Negan and his barbed wire-laced baseball bat named Lucille.
The trailer is the highlight
It is also expected that the first official trailer of “The Walking Dead” Season 7 will be the major highlight of the TV series’ participation in the San Diego ComicCon. Accordingly, the trailer will be officially released on July 22.
This early, speculations are going around whether the first trailer of the hit TV series will provide a clue as to the identity of Negan’s victim but critics believe that “The Walking Dead” cast and producers will hold on to the secret as if their lives depend on it.
They believe that if any, the first official trailer shall only spark further debates among fans on who is the real victim of Negan to be known only come the Season 7 premiere of “The Walking Dead.”
Fans actually have 11 persons to choose from and these are Rick Carl, Daryl, Michonne, Glenn, Abraham, Sasha, Eugene, Aaron, Rosita and Maggie, the last of whom is pregnant and in bad shape.
Negan has come to a decision to punish Rick and his group for killing many of his Saviors and he wants only to send a message and not kill them all because he said that they will be more useful to him alive than dead. He just wanted to kill one of them, notes the Digital Spy.
He already thrashed and beat the victim during the Season 6 finale episode, fittingly titled “The Last Day on Earth,” and only the identity of the casualty shall be known in the Season 7 premiere episode.
The beating was taken from the point of view of the victim and since the victim already closed his or her eyes, it is assumed that he or she is already dead. After all, it would be very difficult to survive getting hit by a barbed wire-laced baseball bat in a helpless state.
Most rumors point to Glenn as the victim
Most of the rumors have been more or less consistent in saying that the victim is going to be Glenn. The speculation is anchored on the fact that it was actually Glenn who was the victim of Negan and Lucille in the comic book source material of the AMC TV series.
However, in order to cushion the relevance of the information to the upcoming Season 7 premiere of “The Walking Dead” in October, subsequent rumors pointed to the possibility that Glenn may not be it but another character.
The characters who have made the rumor mills other than Glenn are Abraham, Michonne, Daryl, Eugene, and Rosita.
Daryl seems to be the least likely because the producers would be courting a heavy fan backlash if they go towards such direction. Michonne, is a good bet if only to provide Rick and company more impetus to exact their revenge on Negan and the Saviors eventually in Season 7.
Eugene and Rosita made the rumor mills lately as Josh McDermitt and Christian Serratos, the respective actors who play the characters in the TV series, have noticeably been absent during the filming of “The Walking Dead” Season 7 in Atlanta.
Interestingly, Steven Yeun, who plays Glenn, and Michael Cudlitz, who plays Abraham, were also nowhere to be found on the set, at least during its initial filming days.
