‘The Walking Dead’ Season 7 First Official Trailer Debuts at San Diego ComicCon; Show to Premiere on October 23

The first trailer for the upcoming Season 7 of AMC’s “The Walking Dead” has been unveiled at this year’s Comic-Con.

Safe to say that writers are keeping last season’s major cliffhanger a surprise for the viewers as the trailer revolved around the mystery of which character was killed by Negan in the Season 6 finale.

In the Season 6 finale, Rick and the gang were captured by Negan’s group, the Saviors, and were introduced to him.

The Saviors then strips every one of their weapons and made them get on their knees. Negan talks to Rick saying that they, and everyone else at Alexandria, work for him now.

Because a lot of Rick’s group killed many Saviors, Negan said that they had to be punished and someone has to be killed by Lucille, his bat covered with barbed wires.

The last few moments of the season led to the suspense of Negan pointing at someone and begins to beat that someone in the group to death, as everyone else in the group starts to scream.

Many rumors point to Glenn as the victim. In the original source, Negan does indeed kill Glenn by beating him to death with Lucille. However, since Glenn is a fan-favorite, it’s unknown if producers will go with the comic book storyline.

The clip begins with a flashback to the chilling sequence featuring Negan, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, selecting his victim. It also highlights the many characters who are running to be bludgeoned to death in the latest season.

The clip then focuses on characters Morgan and Carol, played by Lennie James and Melissa Mcbride respectively, who appear to have been abducted by a new faction named The Kingdom.

Interestingly, despite her friends’ plight, Carol seems ecstatic than ever exclaiming that she doesn’t know what is going on.

Rumors suggest that Carol might experience some mental exhaustion due to the events that transpired in the last season and her’s and Maggie’s abduction was the final straw before she started losing her sanity.

The trailer culminated in the first look at The Kingdom’s leader Ezekiel, played by Khary Payton, as well as his pet tiger Shiva, who doesn’t look friendly at all.

Ezekiel’s comic book introduction came not too long after Negan left his initial skull crater. In the comic books, King Ezekiel is a foe of Negan and will be an ally of Rick’s group.

Rumor has it that the character and his pet tiger will make their debut on the third episode of Season 7.

Showrunner Scott Gimple had long stated that he was keen on using an actual tiger for the show. Judging by the season’s trailer, it looks like they used an animatronic tiger, one that was reportedly seen on set during the early weeks of filming.

Surprisingly, an enticing prologue proceeds to show Alanna Masterson’s Tara now very much in danger and alone save for unknown enemies and some hungry walkers.

Tara was last seen heading to the Hilltop Colony with Corey Hawkin’s Heath. It remains to be revealed if Tara is with Heath of if they parted ways on the way to the colony.

After the trailer was unveiled, it was announced that “The Walking Dead” will return on the small screen in the US on October 23 with a UK air date expected to follow on Fox the very next day.

The season will contain 16 episodes and will be split into two parts. The first eight episodes will air in the fall and the second half will debut in February 2017, Variety reports.

During the show’s panel at the San Diego ComicCon, Morgan gave the crowd some suspense as he showed up in full character with a baseball bat in hand.
