Robert Kirkman, the creator of the American holocaust survival horror TV series “The Walking Dead,” says that the upcoming Season 6 will be the show’s most intense yet and fans would really love it.
Kirkman made the revelation at the New York ComicCon on October 8 where he also said that the first few episodes will see “The Walking Dead” hitting the ground running. In addition, he disclosed that there will be pretty big cliffhangers at the end of every episode to further fuel fan excitement, details Variety.
“The Waking Dead” Season 6 will premiere on October 11 and will pick up from where the Season 5 finale left off at Alexandria.
Kirkman also hinted during the New York ComicCon that the show will most likely explore other communities and possibly feature Negan in the upcoming season. Negan is a character in “The Walking Dead” comic books.
Meatier role in the upcoming season
Unlike in Season 5 were he was only featured in the first and the final episodes, Morgan, played by Lennie James, will have a meatier role and will become an integral part of Season 6 of “The Walking Dead.”
Kirkman said that consistent with the character of Morgan in the comic book series, Lennie James just kept working to push himself into the mainstream plot. He said that the show took a while to get Morgan back but in Season 6, he will be sharing the limelight with the main cast.
The showrunner also revealed that Maggie, played by Lauren Cohan, will also be evolving in Season 6. She will become very assertive and she will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between the Alexandrians and Rick’s group.
“The Walking Dead” director Greg Nicotero also hinted about the 90-minute Season 6 premiere in a recent interview when he said that the show will open right in the middle of the heightened action sequence during the Season 5 finale.
He added that they will then jump around a little bit in that time frame to allow the audience to put together in their own minds what it is that they actually saw, details Entertainment Weekly.
Nicotero disclosed that they will reintroduce Morgan to the group, but there will be some delineation in the chain of command in Alexandria after what happened during the Season 5 finale, particularly between Rick and Deanna.
The director also assured fans that the premiere episode of Season 6 will surely fill up the answers to many of the fan questions that were left unanswered during the Season 5 finale. In effect, it will be like a jigsaw puzzle that the show will leave to the viewers to just put together by themselves.
Tension between Rick and Morgan
Based on recent reports, there will be the tension between Rick and Morgan. While the two have been friends in the past seasons of the popular TV show, it seems that there will be some sort of winds of change that would drive a wedge in the relationship of the two while in Alexandria.
Morgan is a survivor of the outbreak. He met Rick sometime in Season 2 when the latter decided to return to King County in Georgia after waking up from a coma.
But instead he finds Morgan and his son Duane taking refuge on the house where the Grimes family used to live. When Duane was bitten by a walker, that’s when Morgan decided to travel too. He seems to have been following the tracks of Rick’s group because after their adventure in the Terminus, Morgan was able to encounter the Wolves, and then subsequently helping Daryl and Aaron escape a bunch of walkers while they were trapped in a car.
There are also reports that in addition to featuring a possible dilemma for Abraham and Darryl, speculations are rife that “The Walking Dead” comic book characters Negan and Jesus would be coming to Season 6 of the TV series.
