For a show that is overrun by a bunch of dead people, it shouldn’t be surprising that it teases death so often.
However, fans of “The Walking Dead” still find themselves at the edge of their seats whenever an impending demise is rumored.
AMC’s “The Walking Dead” is set return for the second half of its sixth season next month with blood written all over it.
The episode, which will be returning on February 14, has already been dubbed as Valentine’s Day Massacre because there will reportedly be many deaths during the midseason premiere.
According to Vanity Fair, the showrunner Scott Gimple and comic book creator Robert Kirkman weighed in on what’s in store for the fans when the hit series returns, and it’s going to be gruesome as a bloody battle is about to ensue between Rick’s party and a yet unknown group.
Gimple says that the Valentine’s Day episode is probably one of the biggest and bloodiest episodes they’ve done so far.
Kirkman points out that the rest of the season will follow its original source material, and if one looks at the breakdown of the comic books, there are really many things that happened.
Kirkman teased that the low body count during the first half of the season is about to be equalized by upcoming episode.
Speaking to MTV, Gimple says that the second half of the season will be the total opposite of the first half.
The executive producer teases that things are about to get bad quickly during the rest of the season as compared to the first half where they played a lot with time, shifting a lot of scenes and playing a bit with the timeline.
The showrunner adds that the last eight episodes of the season will introduce new groups of people that are clearly cruel, but their arrival makes the story’s timeline more linear in terms of propelling towards an accelerated rate as each episode continues.
Reports say that the episode will pick up moments after the devastating midseason finale where Rick, his crew, and the rest of Alexandrians were forced to move out of their safety net when zombies had overrun their place.
This means that the gang is back to zero and are wanderers exposed to all kinds of threats again.
Christian Post notes that although the threat of the Saviors led by Negan has already been teased, the notorious group won’t be the killers in the next episode.
The media outlet notes that the Wolves and the Saviors are two separate groups and are presently an equal threat to Alexandria implying that the Wolves are the one to battle Rick’s group.
If the show will follow the comic books, then it is likely that one of Jesse’s sons will die and Carl will lose an eye.
However, it can get altered as the show likes to differentiate itself with the comic book series.
The second part of the season has a lot in store for fans as the much-awaited villain will finally be introduced.
Apparently, the zombies destroying Alexandria is the least of Rick’s crew’s problems as their biggest threat has yet to arrive.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who will play the ruthless and newest big bad Negan, is set to appear near the season finale teasing his character until the next season.
The trailer for the upcoming episode has seen Negan’s group, the Saviors, posing a grave threat on Rick and his friends. In the teaser, Rick meets Dwight, who turns out to be Negan’s partner in crime.
Of course, Negan doesn’t come alone. The show has added a slew of new cast members that will be introduced in the next few episodes.
Reports say that some of the new characters will be good, but most of them will be bad. One of the bad guys will be the leader of the Hilltop Colony, Gregory.
