The Walking Dead Season 6 Second Half to See Rick Grimes’ Group Finally Leaving Alexandria!

After what happened during the Season 6 fall finale of the American holocaust survival horror drama TV series “The Walking Dead” where the zombie walkers finally broke through the walls of Alexandria, it is expected that Rick and company will make the place another no man’s land when the popular show returns on Valentine’s Day for its second half.

But it will not come without the usual thrills, suspense, and deaths. If spoilers and leaks are accurate, there will also be a Valentine’s Day massacre when “The Walking Dead” returns for its midseason premiere on AMC on February 14.

It can be recalled that during the fall finale of Season 6 of “The Walking Dead,” it showed Rick, Carl, Michonne, Judith, Jessie, Ron, Sam, and Father Gabriel trying to blend in with a horde of walkers.

But Sam started to panic and called out his mother, which will have major consequences. That also left the show with a huge cliffhanger when it returns on February 14 for its episode 9.

Reports have it that it would be a shocker if everyone would make it out of the horde of walkers alive or unscathed and based on the comics, it will be Carl who will bore the brunt of the consequence.

Sticking with the comic book storyline

The TV show stuck with the comic book storyline of having Rick’s group leave the house camouflaged in walker guts as well as Sam calling out his mother.

Based on the comics, chaos would ensue and the walkers would recognize the humans among them but Deanna would try to distract the walkers. Jessie will be killed and Carl would be shot in the eye in the process and he would fall into a coma.

It is likely that the show will follow the storyline of Carl getting injured and Jessie being killed and will make Rick realized that he needs people in order to survive.

But it remains to be seen whether the TV show will stick to the comic book storyline on what shall happen to Carl although there are speculations that the showrunners could make the eye injury less brutal and have Carl just wear an eye patch like the Governor.

Or they could actually decide to skip the injury and have Carl get bitten and killed. The loss would deeply wound Rick and there would be no turning back, which seems consistent with what Andrew Lincoln said in a recent interview that the second half of Season 6 would be darker and the season finale a mind-blowing experience for fans and viewers.

No longer possible

After the melee and the deaths that are expected to take place in episode 9, Rick and company would most likely leave Alexandria and be on the road again.

It could be recalled that it was during the middle of Season 5 up to the middle of Season 6 when Rick’s group stayed in Alexandria. Although they tried to fit in, but Deanna Monroe, played by Tovah Feldsun, simply shielded the people from the reality of the situation, living as if there were no outside threats at all from both walkers and other groups of people.

In fact, the trailer of the midseason premiere of “The Walking Dead” Season 6 showed Rick saying that he thought that living behind the walls of Alexandria was possible. He admitted that he was wrong, which only implied that their group or whatever or whoever is left of it would be on the move again.

AMC also released a promotional image of “The Walking Dead” Season 6 and it featured Rick Grimes looking tough and determined, notes Comicbook.com.

It will be on the road where Rick’s group is to encounter two groups of people including Negan’s Saviors. If the TV series sticks with the comic book storyline about Negan, to be played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, the new big bad will be more villainous than the Governor, previously played by David Morrisey.
