As the new season of “The Walking Dead” approaches, we’re getting more and more information about the new episodes and the season is starting to take some shape in the minds of fans. We’re still a long a long way off from knowing the full picture, but at this point it’s safe to assume that there will be a solid dose of drama mixed with excitement in the new episodes, and fans are in for quite the treat.
Most of the details that get revealed tend to be blurry and difficult to interpret, but that seems to be intentional as the show’s producers like to keep their fans in the dark about specific details of what they’re about to see. But even the random pictures that they release here and there are starting to point towards some specific points of the new season’s plot that we’re likely going to see developed.
For example, Rick and Morgan might find themselves entangled in some sort of rivalry, although it’s hard to say what that will be about. It could have something to do with events from a previous episodes, but it could also be an entirely new plot development introduced by the writers just for the purpose of stirring up some drama. It would certainly be in their style to throw some extra animosity in the relationships between certain characters, and that’s sometimes used as an important device for moving the plot forward and developing it in different areas.
On the other hand, many people have been asking for Carl to be taken out of the show due to the negativity surrounding his character, although it’s also worth noting that he has a central place in the plot and it might not be that easy to just remove him from the equation altogether.
Indeed, the character will actually have something important to say/do during the new season, as confirmed during a panel with the show’s fans that was recently held during Fan Expo Canada 2015. Needless to say, the panel didn’t actually offer any concrete answers to questions regarding new developments coming up in season 6, but it’s not like anyone expected any major spoilers to be revealed there.
Rick and Morgan might not be the only ones developing negative feelings for each other during the new season either – Daryl may also get into a conflict with Rick, and it could even get physical, requiring Paul to intervene and break them up before they hurt each other more seriously.
This is based on still unconfirmed reports however, so we have no idea if that’s actually the case or if the characters will have something else between them during the new season that we don’t know about. We certainly wouldn’t put it past the showrunners to purposefully spread false rumors about the plot of the new episodes just to confuse their fans and get them to discuss the season even more actively, although they have also been sharing some details on the official front themselves.
It’s certainly noticeable that Daryl has changed his attitude during the show, especially lately – and many people see it as plausible that the character would enter a conflict with someone else, especially Rick who has such a different attitude towards pretty much everything around him compared to Daryl. It would be bad to see this rivalry going on forever though, and it might be a better idea to use it as a means of building up the characters and developing them further.
