The last season of “The Walking Dead” ended on quite the dramatic note, and the show’s fans were left wondering how everything is going to play out in the long run, and how the characters are going to deal with what they’ve been through. And while speculation about the possibilities has been on the rise as the new season approaches, official information hasn’t been as plentiful, and fans still have their guesses to live on for the most part. Now, however, the situation is changing a bit, as a brand new trailer for the show has just been released, showing quite a bit of action.
In the beginning of the trailer, Rick Grimes is shown walking through a dark forest together with the rest of his crew, until at one point the leader raises his hand to proclaim that survival is all that matters. Afterwards, the crew moves on, their weapons ready to fire, and subsequently attack an enemy that’s not seen on the screen. Rick repeats his statement once again, more powerfully this time, as the group cease their fire and gaze into the distance.
So, what was that all about? It’s hard to say, although there is certainly no shortage of theories about possible interpretations of the new trailer. It’s not clear who the crew was fighting against, but the producers have been dropping various hints about that throughout the last season as well as after its production was over.
Observant fans have also been pointing out one peculiar detail about the new trailer, the absence of Carl. It’s not clear why Rick was shown fighting without his son by his side, and the producers haven’t given any hints about that so far. There are several possible explanations for the situation, and most fans seem to suspect that the character has either been abducted, or even killed. Neither of those has been strongly implied by the show’s producers in the previous episodes, though knowing how much the writers of “The Walking Dead” enjoy toying with their fans’ emotions, it certainly wouldn’t be a far-fetched possibility.
More information about the new season is expected to be released soon, clarifying some of the plot details in the upcoming episodes. While the producers obviously aren’t going to spoil any major details, it’s expected that they will at least give some hints about the points fans have been most anxious about, including the fate of Carl, and what the group will have to come up against in the new season.
