When GTA 5 came out, Rockstar promised special heists for its multiplayer mode, although that part of the game apparently took the company more time than they anticipated. However, it seems that the long wait is finally over, and fans of the game who’ve been excited about the opportunity to pull off risky jobs with their online gaming buddies will soon get the chance. The update that will introduce heists is going to be release on all four consoles, so nobody is going to be left out of the action.
According to Rockstar, the update will be released sometime after the game’s re-released PS4 and Xbox One versions come out on the market, which is going to happen on November 18. The company hasn’t given an exact release date for the update itself, but according to them, it will be very soon after the PS4/Xbox One re-release.
The last major statement from the company regarding the development of heists was made in June this year, when they announced a delay in the feature’s development. The company was originally planning to have heists available earlier in 2014, but that didn’t work out according to plan, and the development had to be extended.
This is the first “Grand Theft Auto” to offer online play, at least as an officially supported feature, and Rockstar have obviously been putting a lot of effort into it, in order to make sure that it will meet fans’ expectations. “GTA Online” has been played by over 30 million people over the period of one year, logging in billions of total play hours.
The game’s multiplayer mode was met with excitement, although its implementation could have been approached better, according to the opinions of most fans and critics. The game is fun, the world works well with multiple players, but some of the common complaints have been related to the number of players that can play together on a single server, as well as the financial aspect of the game.
GTA’s online play is heavily based around an in-game cash currency, which players can earn by completing various jobs. The main problem with this feature has been the lack of balance around it, as it’s not very difficult for a player to accumulate large amounts of cash and then have nothing to spend them on. Buying vehicles and properties is only fun up to a certain point, and Rockstar have reportedly been looking into ways to make the whole economic system of the game more interesting. Whether this will be addressed in the upcoming update is not yet known, as the company hasn’t said anything about changes to the price balance for this version.
