Gwen Stefani and Selena Gomez have no official music collaboration yet but with the official confirmation of the 22-year-old songstress as advisor to Team Stefani for the upcoming Season 9 of the reality singing competition show “The Voice,” there is now a possibility that a collaborative project can come sometime in the future.
“The Voice” will return to NBC on September 21 for its ninth season and the producers made sure that it has added another star power into it with the confirmation of Selena Gomez as one of the four advisers, reports the International Business Times.
Gwen Stefani will reclaim her big red chair in the show as one of the four celebrity judges after she momentarily relinquished it during Season 8 to Christina Aguilera.
She will rejoin the other mainstay celebrity judges Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, and Pharrell Williams in selecting as well as coaching a group of aspiring singers in the course of the competition.
“The Heart Wants What it Wants” singer will be joining other celebrity advisers including John Fogerty, who has been confirmed for the team of Adam Levine, and Brad Paisley, who will stand as mentor for the team of Blake Shelton. Pharrell Williams have yet to get a confirmed advisor although there have been previous reports that it could by Missy Elliot, notes Variety.
And as previously announced, pop megastar Rihanna will serve as the key adviser for the overall singing competition in “The Voice” Season 9
New album coming
Her stint with “The Voice” Season 9 will also be a good exposure for Selena Gomez as she will be able to promote her upcoming album titled “Revival” in the show. The album will be officially released to record and music stores on October 9.
In a recent interview, Selena was quoted as saying that she only has respect and love for Gwen Stefani. She likes it that she can learn whenever she is in the presence of someone older than her. She said that she wants to learn from people and that she wants to be around women who are nurturing, caring, smart, and creative, describing Gwen Stefani further.
She also finds it incredible that people like Gwen have been doing music since she was a child. Selena lauded the dedication and the years that Gwen has put into her craft and for being still young yet with so much rich experience.
Selena recently released her latest track “Good for You” which will be the carrier single of her upcoming album.
Sources close to Selena says that despite the songstress being one of the, if not the youngest mentor on the show, she has exceeded everyone’s expectations in as far as sharing her talents or give pointers on how to sing properly are concerned.
Justin and Selena rumors on ‘The Voice’
There have been rumors about Justin Bieber reuniting with Selena Gomez on “The Voice” which began after reports came out that the show producers wanted to bring in younger viewers.
It turns out that the last season of “The Voice” was the least rated ever and producer Mark Burnette has taken notice.
Burnette wanted to mix it up to get ratings up and get younger viewers to watch “The Voice.” However, that would mean that one of the current male judges would have to give up their post so that Justin could fill it.
But it seems that none from Pharrell Williams, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton are willing to give up their spots in “The Voice” anytime soon.
Blake and Adam are mainstays and they will not be removed according to reports. The production team have talked about the group being paired with Usher and they also talked about seeing Blake, Adam and Justin interact with a girl.
