Season 9 of the reality singing competition show “The Voice” USA is set to air on NBC on September 21 but the excitement that it has been creating among the avid fans of the show is now at a remarkable high following reports about the four artist-mentors who will be coming in.
Missy Elliot and John Fogerty were the first to be reported as mentors for Adam Levine’s and Pharrell Williams’ teams, respectively.
Subsequently, it was the turn of young songstress Selena Gomez to be reported as a mentor for Gwen Stefani’s team. There were even rumors that Selena will be joined in the show by her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber as judge, much to the delight of their fans. But it turns out that it was just wishful thinking on the part of the throngs of fans of the pair as nobody among the four judges of “The Voice” will be replaced for its ninth season.
However, the fourth to be reported but the first to be confirmed is country singer Brad Paisley, who shall be joining Blake Shelton’s team. Paisley is set to share his insights and advice to the contestants on Blake Shelton’s team as confirmed by representatives of NBC, reports the Franchise Herald.
Experience in singing competition
Paisley is bringing with him valuable experiences with singing competitions in the past. He was a judge on “Rising Star” that was aired on ABC last year.
It can be recalled that Blake Shelton and Brad Paisley also performed “Don’t Drink the Water” during the first season of “The Voice.”
Unless a major change of plans crops up, it is likely that confirmation of the three other mentor-artists will be made by NBC very soon.
But according to the Inqusitr, Selena Gomez has already been confirmed for the mentorship role for Season 9 of “The Voice.”
The news of the “Good For You” singer becoming one of the guest mentors on “The Voice” was also confirmed by the Selena Gomez News Twitter account, along with other media sources.
Sources close to Selena say that despite the songstress being one of the, if not the youngest mentor on the show, she has exceeded everyone’s expectations in as far as sharing her talents or giving pointers on how to sing properly to contestants are concerned.
Justin and Selena on the show?
The rumors about Justin Bieber reuniting with Selena Gomez on “The Voice” began after reports came out that the show producers wanted to bring in younger viewers.
It turns out that the last season of “The Voice” was the least rated ever and producer Mark Burnette has taken notice.
Burnette wanted to mix it up to get ratings up and get younger viewers to watch “The Voice.” However, that would mean that one of the current male judges would have to give up their post so that Justin could come in.
But it seems that none from Pharrell Williams, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton are willing to give up their spots in “The Voice” anytime soon.
Blake and Adam are mainstays and they will not be removed according to reports. The production team have talked about the group being paired with Usher and they also talked about seeing Blake, Adam and Justin interact with a girl.
But it is now clear that ‘Jelena’ on “The Voice is not going to happen. It would have been a thrill to fans if “The Voice” would see Justin Bieber as one of the judges and Selena Gomez as one of the mentors. And it would also look nice if Justin would be a judge and coach and his team would have Selena as its mentor.
