The upcoming season of NBC’s “The Voice” has an overflowing supply of music superstars when it premieres in less than three weeks. As reported last week, singer, actress, and former Disney star Selena Gomez was confirmed to be mentoring for Gwen Stefani’s team. Gwen is also making a return after a one-season hiatus. The “Hollaback Girl” singer is assuming her post that was temporarily filled up by Christina Aguilera in Season 8.
When asked about her latest mentoring stint, Gomez had all the good words to say about Stefani and says that whenever she’s in the presence of someone older than her, she feels like there’s always love and respect that she can earn.
The 23-year-old singer recently released her latest single “Good For You” in anticipation for her upcoming album “Revival” due for an October 9 release.
As per Variety, musician John Fogerty has been tapped by Adam Levine to mentor his crew while country music singer Brad Paisley has been added in the lineup to guide Blake Shelton’s team. Rounding up the list of team advisors is none other than “Get Ur Freak On” rapper, Missy Elliott. The 44-year-old rapper will serve as the advisor to Pharell Williams’ team.
According to EW, Elliot, who performed with Katy Perry during this year’s SuperBowl halftime show, is also busy putting together her seventh studio album. Back in April, Williams said that he had been working with the “Work It” singer while Timbaland himself confirmed last June that one of Missy’s latest songs will be produced by Williams.
Last season, Sawyer Frederick of Team Pharrell won the competition, making him the fourth coach to win in the competition overall, but it looks like the “Happy” singer is hungry for more trophies and is aiming to win again this season, evidently with his decision to tap Elliott to be part of his squad. Carson Daly will also be returning to host “The Voice.”
Fans would really be wishing that it’s September 21st already as international pop superstar Rihanna is also making her way to the reality singing competition. The 27-year-old singer will take on the role as a key advisor for all the teams on the show’s ninth season — a role previously filled by Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Taylor Swift, Nate Ruess, among others.
Rihanna’s involvement in the show was announced by NBC boss Bob Greenblatt himself during the Television Critics Association press tour held in Beverly Hills, California in August.
Recently, the “California King Bed” singer is rumored to be dating Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton. Speaking to E! News during this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, the 31-year-old racecar driver addressed romance rumors and said that he and Riri are just really good friends.
Meanwhile, the latest promo for the upcoming season is sure to delight some fans as it involved a psychedelic touch complete with rainbows, butterflies, unicorns and of course, music.
In the one-minute promo clip posted in Access Hollywood’s website last week, the four coaches Blake, Gwen, Pharrell, and Adam wear virtual reality headgears and enter into a world of colorful animation where anything is possible. As the first three judges arrive with their signature red chairs, Levine opted to arrive on a unicorn which definitely was a scene-stealer.
They then hear music from aspiring contestants from afar and in the pursuit of getting access to those voices, Stefani sprouts some butterfly wings to get ahead of her fellow coaches but not until Pharell gets past her by riding on a cloud. Just like on the actual show, the four coaches can’t help indulge in some friendly bickering.
Before the video ends, it heads back in the reality where host Carson Daly then goes inside the show’s studio while touring a bunch of kids. He then goes on telling that it was the kids’ lucky day as the four coaches were all present that day.
