‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 8 to See the Return of Kai Parker? Chris Wood Posts Cryptic Tweet on Character’s Return

Aside from Elena Gilbert’s potential return to “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8, another character might make a return. However, his return might be the wrong timing for the rest of the Mystic Falls gang.

Reports suggest that the evil Kai Parker might make his return when the show continues to air next year.

Fans will remember that Kai was the big bad during Season 6. He was trapped in the other world when Bonnie and Damon encountered him.

He unwillingly formed an alliance with the two in the hopes that they could all escape the parallel dimension and return to the real world. The character was the twin brother of Jo and the older brother of Liv. His true nature as a siphoner was revealed and it was the reason he became a sociopath.

He encountered Lily Salvatore and she turned him into a vampire. However, his threat of abomination had the heretics locked him in the 1994 prison world.

The character became an integral part of the Season 6 finale, when he wreaked havoc and killed his twin sister and her unborn twins to avoid any competition for the role of the leader of the Gemini coven.

He also threatened Lily that he will kill the heretics if she won’t turn him into a hybrid. However, he was most memorable for putting Elena into a mystical slumber and connecting her life with Bonnie’s.

Although Damon killed Kai, “The Vampire Diaries” is known to bring back characters to life time and time again.

Showrunner Julie Plec earlier spoke about the possibility of old villains such as Kai and Katherine Pierce coming back. She said that everything is possible in Mystic Falls and that they don’t always close their doors on every character.

Further fueling the rumors that the character will return is the actor who portrays Kai himself. According to International Business Times, Chris Wood posted some cryptic tweets implying the return of his “The Vampire Diaries” character.

The 28-year-old actor referenced his villainous character in one of his recent tweets leading fans to ask what the status of Kai is.

Wood replied that Kai is trying to get out of hell implying his character’s return. Paul Wesley, who plays Stefan Salvatore, also shared a photo of her girlfriend Phoebe Tonkin along with Wood with a caption hinting that Chris is on the set of “TVD,” filming some scenes.

Fans speculate that Wood took a break from his stint on “Supergirl” to return as Kai in the final season of the supernatural drama. The actor’s schedule is reportedly packed as well indicating that he is taking time filming his two stints.

The final season of The CW series already brought back Michael Trevino’s Tyler Lockwood and gave his character a proper ending.

Tyler’s return also prompted the show to return to its roots by bringing back the iconic events in the town such as Miss Mystic Falls, Mystic Falls Carnival, and Founder’s Day.

Plec revealed that the final episodes of the show will pay tribute to the past eight years the show has been on the air. It will highlight the legacy the show has created and will pay homage to key events and characters for the fans’ satisfaction.

The show is currently on a holiday hiatus and will return on January 13, 2017. The midseason finale saw Damon and Sybil crash the gang’s Christmas dinner and stake Stefan to let him meet Cade.

It also did a flashback to 1917 and showed Stefan during his ripper days. Cade reveals that Seline witnessed a murder Stefan orchestrated when he was still a ripper. It was then revealed that Seline and Stefan already met centuries ago but she had Stefan’s memories erased.
