‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 8 Episode 5 to See Stefan Making a Last Ditch Effort to Stop Damon from His Deadly Downward Spiral

The upcoming fifth episode of the eighth and final season of the American supernatural drama TV series “The Vampire Diaries” will be airing on The CW on November 18.

Entitled “Coming Home was a Mistake,” the episode shall see Stefan Salvatore, played by Paul Wesley, making a last-ditch effort to stop his brother Damon Salvatore, played by Ian Somerhalder, from his deadly downward spiral, reports Comicbookmovie.com.

After the Mystic Falls gang said goodbye to one of their own during the fourth episode, it is up to Stefan to take down Damon once and for all.

The big question is whether Stefan has what it takes to save Damon or whether Damon can still be saved after he turned to his dark side. Stefan will have to deal as well with the threat of Sybil and her even more dangerous sister Seline as well as the seemingly damning revelation of his ultimate fate.

After what Damon did during the fourth episode, Stefan is also of the opinion that his brother may already be beyond the point of return.

But in the upcoming fifth episode, Stefan will finally make a gut-wrenching decision that threatens to change their relationship forever.

Breaking through Enzo

Meanwhile, Bonnie, played by Kat Graham, will get a piece of key advice from Caroline, played by Candice King, on how to break through to Enzo, played by Michael Malarkey.

Matt, played by Zach Roerig, will work on deciphering a mysterious box of messages that he has just received.

A looming tragedy will also strike very close to Mystic Falls so Stefan and the others will be forced to remember what matters most to them.

Matt Davis will also star in the upcoming episode 5 to be directed by James Thompson based on the script written by Celine Geiger.

Saying goodbye to Elena

Based on the past episode of “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8, where the characters said their goodbye to Elena Gilbert, it seems unlikely for actress Nina Dobrev to return to her traditional character in the hit show.

There is a good chance that the previous rumors about the actress returning as Katherine Pierce may be true after all.

However, with already four episodes down and 12 more to go, the window for the re-appearance of Nina Dobrev as Katherine Pierce is getting smaller and smaller by the week. Fans have been looking forward to more of her in the final season of “The Vampire Diaries” but it looks like she will just be appearing as a cameo.

Following the official demise of Elena Gilbert, Bonnie will explore her new lease on life. It can be recalled that her life was tied to Elena’s deep slumber. If Elena wakes up, Bonnie will die. With Elena gone, Bonnie’s life is all her own now.

Meanwhile, Damon and Lily, played by guest star Annie Wersching, will continue with their attempts to drive a wedge between the brothers, there is still hope that the love story of Stefan and Caroline will be tough enough to survive the ordeal it is facing at the moment.

Damon will do everything in his power to take down Lily and her band of Heretics while Enzo will continue to struggle as to where his loyalties lie.

The arrival of the Heretics also puts Mystic Falls in shambles, the way they were meant to do in the first place, so it would be interesting how the Mystic Falls gang will do to fight back and fix everything back up.

Incidentally, the fourth episode also tackled the confrontation between Sybil and Stefan where the former told the story about her sister, who is a fellow psychic she met after being exiled to an island by the people of her home village a long time ago, details TV Line.
