‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 8 Confirms Return of Michael Trevino’s Tyler Lockwood in Mystic Falls

The upcoming eighth season of “The Vampire Diaries” will see the return of Michael Trevino’s Tyler Lockwood.

Trevino left the show after Season 6 along with Nina Dobrev, but returned as a special guest star in Season 7.

Elena encouraged Tyler to leave Mystic Falls and embrace his supernatural side. He returned when Caroline and Stefan asked him a favor to help Damon. He even attended Caroline’s baby shower.

It was revealed that he’s the caretaker of Elena’s lifeless body and Damon welcomed him by getting the snot beat out of him because his mind was being altered by the Phoenix Stone.

However, Tyler, who’s now a pure werewolf, survived the attack and will reportedly play a vital role in the upcoming season.

When fans last saw him, he was locked in the Armory and losing his control with Damon inside. Bonnie came just in time to open the room and let him escape.

He left Bonnie a serious injury, and the confrontation resulted to Damon deciding to put himself in a coffin until Elena wakes up which was cut during the second half of Season 7.

According to TV Line, Trevino’s character will make his way back to Mystic Falls by the third episode of Season 8. It’s still unclear how long will he be around.

Fans now speculate that Tyler will be responsible for bringing Elena back in Mystic Falls. Now that Bonnie is a hunter, there can possibly be a way to unlink the spell that binds her and Elena’s life.

Reports say that when Tyler and Damon meet again, the latter will be in a worse mental state of mind than before. Damon continues to spiral out of control after his experience in the vault during the Season 7 finale.

Earlier reports confirmed that the final season of The CW hit series will see Ian Somerhalder’s Damon and Michael Malarkey’s Enzo under the evil control of Nathalie Kelly’s Sybil.

It’s on Stefan, Caroline, Alaric, and Bonnie to save their friends before they become fully consumed with the mysterious power under the vault.

Speaking to Showbiz Junkies, Michael Malarkey teased fans that the season will unravel a super evil entity and they will find out soon enough why Damon and Enzo are being driven to be evil as well.

He says that Enzo’s grappling with their situation more compared to Damon. Malarkey adds that his character is fighting it more than Damon and teases that fans will get to see how rapidly this creature affects them.

“The Vampire Diaries” was confirmed to end after Season 8 during this year’s San Diego ComicCon where the cast members and executive producer Julie Plec were present.

Plec revealed that there will be old characters who will come back for the last season to pay homage to the series.

Plec somehow confirmed that another crossover episode with its spin-off show “The Originals” might happen in the final season.
Last season, the crossover episodes between two shows proved to be an essential part that drove the storylines to a whole new level.

Fans are now clamoring that Nina Dobrev, who plays Elena Gilbert, to return for the final season. While some reports have been positive towards Dobrev’s comeback, The CW nor Plec has not yet given an official statement.

The Vampire Diaries Season 7

The showrunner said during the San Diego ComicCon that she wishes that Nina would indeed return and admits that she already has the series finale wrapped up with Elena in it.

She reveals that she and the 27-year-old actress have already talked about it and she’s really trying to bring her back even for the final episode of the show.

The CW President Mark Pedowitz says during the TCA summer press tour that if Nina decided not to reprise her role, then Julie has written an alternate series finale that is equally as interesting as the original one.
