‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 7 to See More of the Love Triangle Drama Among Stefan, Caroline and Valerie!

Avid fans of the American supernatural drama TV series “The Vampire Diaries” were elated when Season 7 of the show premiered on The CW on October 8 and they see Stefan Salvatore, played by Paul Wesley, and Caroline Forbes, played by Candice Accola, making a go of their too-long-in-the-making relationship.

However, right on the second episode of “The Vampire Diaries,” Steroline was already shot in the foot as it featured a future scene where Caroline was seen engaged to someone else not Stefan.

The second episode of Season 7 of “The Vampire Diaries” actually featured a three-year time jump. It was quite clear that Caroline was not engaged to Stefan at all because she was pretty annoyed by the mere mention of his name. She was even quoted as saying to her assistant that if Stefan calls back, he should be told that Caroline is not there because she does not want to hear the name of Stefan Salvatore again.

That future scene actually triggered plenty of speculations on who could be Caroline’s fiancé. Among those characters that made it to speculation include Matt and Tyler, with whom she dated years back, Alaric, Jeremy, and Enzo. Or it could be someone entirely new which could only be known in the future episodes of “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7.

As if that was not enough, the third episode aired on October 22 featured the entry into the Steroline picture of heretic Valerie Tulle, played by Elizabeth Blackmore, thereby lending credence to the bleak future of the new couple.

It turns out that Stefan did not only fall for Valerie’s charm early on, he also got her pregnant back in 1863 so right there and then, fans already have an idea why Caroline hates Stefan so much in the future. But in the present day, she is still not aware that Stefan already had a checkered past with Valerie.

It was also revealed that Valerie is Stefan’s first love and not Katherine, the doppelganger of Elena Gilbert, previously played by Nina Dobrev.

It was a big news to fans of Steroline who were really disheartened by the unfolding of Stefan’s backstory with Valerie especially when it was revealed that he has actually impregnated the naïve witch then, but she lost the baby because of Julian, played by Todd Lasance, details Enstarz.

More to the story

In the upcoming fifth episode to be aired on November 5, there are reports saying that Stefan will continue to lie to Caroline about his past with Valerie.

But before fans of the series could throw a mouthful of their opinions and comments on the direction where Steroline is headed, executive producer Caroline Dries says that there is a lot more to the story.

Dries revealed that Valerie is part of the reason for the impending breakup of Stefan and Caroline, but there is a much bigger, more emotional, and legitimate reason, notes TV Line.

The Vampire Diaries Season 7

The showrunner said that the reason is beyond petty jealousy or Stefan cheating on Caroline or anything like that. This only means that there will be more of the Stefan-Caroline-Valerie love triangle drama in the next episodes of “The Vampire Diaries.”

Dries adds that Season 7 of the TV series is about the characters growing up and becoming adults.

Stefan’s almost-baby with Valerie is something that he will really be thinking about for the rest of the seventh season. He will be thinking that he could have already been a dad. Such backstory is the most symbolic and also thematic that is why the show decided to take that path, notes the executive producer.
