‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 7 to Feature Renewed Kinship Between Damon and Stefan

Season 7 of the American supernatural TV series “The Vampire Diaries” is in for a major shift in dynamics following the departure of Nina Dobrev from the show after playing the main female protagonist, Elena Gilbert, in the series for the past six years.

Elena has actually driven a wedge on the relationship of brothers Damon and Stefan Salvatore as the two attempted to win her heart at one point in the show.

Damon, played by Ian Somerhalder, had the obvious upper hand in the love triangle as Ian has actually been the real-life boyfriend of Nina Dobrev during a good portion of the show. Stefan, played by Paul Wesley, had an outside chance that just seems too hard to believe among fans of the show.

Now that Elena Gilbert is already out on a 70-year coma, reports have it that the Salvatore brothers will put the history between them including the past love triangle behind them. The two will reportedly renew their kinship in Season 7, according to Popsugar.

The most interesting relationship in the show

It was actually Paul Wesley who confirmed during the ComicCon 2015 that the relationship of Damon and Stefan will be one of the main focuses of the upcoming Season 7 of “The Vampire Diaries.”

Co-executive producer Julie Plec said that the seventh season is definitely going to have a new focus on the Damon-Stefan brother relationship, to which Paul said that people really seem to love the Salvatore brothers together.

Wesley added that fans love the brotherly love and dynamic relationship between Damon and Stefan, which also counts as their favorite relationship in the show. He said that the relationship of the Salvatore brothers is one of the most interesting one on the show, having started out as enemies, and then fighting for the love of one girl, they just have so much history together.

Having directed one episode of “The Vampire Diaries” in Season 6 last year, Paul said he shares the same idea with the other directors of the show that flashbacks would really help in establishing the rich history between Damon and Stefan.

A lot of changes

For his part, Ian Somerhalder confirmed of the many changes that the producers and the cast members will bring to the show for its Season 7 which will premiere on October 8 at The CW network.

Somerhalder explained that the seventh season of the very popular TV series shall go around more on the relationships than mythologies because of the departure of Elena Gilbert, notes Food World News.

He also teased that his character, Damon, will be someone who is going to be super-volatile and very unpredictable come Season 7, apparently because of what happened to Elena Gilbert. Somerhalder added that the show will go back to the simple type of storytelling, where it’s sexy, dark, and funny.

According to latest reports, it is likely that Stefan would finally find romantic interest in Caroline, played by Candice Accola.

Julie Plec disclosed that Season 7 of the series will focus on Caroline and her love story with Stefan. She says that Caroline never really had the best of luck. Everyone realized that here’s a girl who’s trying so hard to matter and she’s overdoing and overcompensating it. So what they’ve done to Caroline is to set her up that by the end of her run as a character, she will be the one that gets to be picked first.

The Vampire Diaries Season 7

When fans last saw the couple, Caroline was saying that she was not yet ready to commit to a relationship with Stefan. But Stefan has declared his love to her and said he would be willing to wait for her. And it looks like Stefan would finally get the nod of Caroline in Season 7 of “The Vampire Diaries.”
