That seems to be what the first episode of “The Vampire Diaries” officially titled “Day One of Twenty-Two Thousand, Give or Take” successfully did.
The 22,000 in the title is actually the number of days that Elena Gilbert would be sleeping before she can even come back. That’s more than 60 years so it’s as good as saying never actually.
However as a premiere episode which has a lot to prove, the first episode of Season 7 could have been a lot stronger, notes some fans and critics.
There is an obvious sense of rebuilding in the TV series which comes with an attempt to introduce a whole new set of villains and status quo for Mystic Falls.
Despite the initial agreement between the Salvatore and the Heretics in the initial episode, the possible showdown between the vampires of Mystic Falls and the Heretics looms high in the horizon.
As vampire witches, the Heretics are certainly bringing new dangers to the residents of Mystic Falls. However, they also include Lily, the mother of Damon and Stefan, along with her clan and that is the reason why they agreed to a deal in the first place. But when their mother attempts to drive the humans out, that’s where the conflict begins.
