The Vampire Diaries Season 7: Producer Talks about Show’s Future without Nina Dobrev!

Nina Dobrev is off “The Vampire Diaries” for good, and the situation is pretty much final at this point. This has been the subject of much discussion in the community of the show, and just one look at a popular messaging board for the production is enough to make this picture clear. And it’s obvious that the producers have been paying attention to what their fans are saying, as they seem determined to clear up the situation and reassure fans of “The Vampire Diaries” that they’re going to get a good continuation of the show.

Caroline Dries recently gave an interview in which she discussed various aspects of the production, including the situation with female actors/characters. She specifically gave focus to the fact that Nina Dobrev has departed from the show and also talked about the future of Damon and Stefan. The two characters are about to see some very interesting developments in their personalities, and the show will also pay tribute to the memory of Elena (the character played by Nina Dobrev) in a way that should leave fans satisfied.

Dries also discussed the current stage in her own life after she became involved with the production, admitting that she has felt quite humbled by the experience of rising to the position of a producer of such an important TV show. She also expressed her admiration for fellow female showrunners, and explained that presenting her gender in a good light is an important part of her work which she also hopes to reflect in the new episodes of “The Vampire Diaries” too.

Much of the interview was focused on the departure of Nina Dobrev. It’s pretty clear that the show is going to go through some very tense moments in its upcoming episodes, as Elena was a major character and not just a random recurring personality. Fans had a deep attachment to her, and she was pivotal to the plot in various ways – so removing her from the story will have some obvious implications which have been worrying to some of the show’s fans.

However, Dries wanted to reassure her audience that the show will continue despite the loss of such a major character, and fans shouldn’t be worried about the future of the production. There will also apparently be some other developments around the character line-up which may or may not make up for the loss of Elena, but the writers should probably tread very carefully if they’re planning to outright try to replace Elena with someone else.

That will obviously not be taken lightly by fans of the show, and it’s not the kind of future development that people want to see. On the other hand, if someone new is introduced gently and gradually, this could be played off in an interesting way – before fans know it, they could have someone new in place of Elena, being just as attached to the new character as they were to her predecessor.

That’s just speculation though – we don’t actually know if this is what’s about to happen. Fans are, however, quite worried about Damon and what’s going to happen to him now that Elena isn’t around to keep his spirits up. The character might go through some very difficult moments, made even more complicated by the fact that the story is going to introduce some additional twists (according to rumors, at least). Hopefully we aren’t going to see him spiraling into a negative state as many fans are quite attached to the character in his current representation.
