The whole plot in general is starting to seem very strong and nicely detailed, and the writers of the show have obviously prepared something quite good for this season. Many relationships are going to be strengthened, others will be put to the test – and in general, the trend is that the season is going to be focused on personal relationships more than the previous ones.
Many of the characters will end up changing their stances towards one another in all likelihood, and we will probably see various relationships falling apart at some point.
That would be a sad way for the season to proceed, but “The Vampire Diaries” has always had a solid dose of drama in all its storylines and it’s not a show that takes this part of its development lightly.
If the producers have decided that they want to make this season more difficult for the characters, they definitely have plenty of opportunities for that when it comes to their relationships. This, combined with some surprises related to the supernatural elements that everyone has to constantly battle, is a guaranteed formula for a dynamic and unpredictable season. Which, from what we’ve been able to tell before, is exactly what the show’s fans are after.
