The Sixth Installment of ‘A Song of Ice And Fire’ Set to Launch Next Year, Is a Game Of Thrones Prequel on the Cards? Let’s See!

Every fan of George R. R Martin is left in an anticipatory wanting after every finished book of his, due to his books ending in cliffhangers. The series of A Song of Ice and Fire is no exception. The fifth part of the series left the readers with a nail-biting cliffhanger and the upcoming part The Winds Of Winter is set to be launched soon, and the readers couldn’t be any more excited.

After winning an outstanding 38 awards in the Emmys for the popular HBO TV series that is based off on his novel A Song of Ice and Fire, it is time for the Game of Thrones author to finally return to finishing writing the sixth part of the novel, The Wind of Winters. He informed that he is indeed very proud of the show bagging the highest number of Emmys ever breaking the record of Frasier.

Apart from bagging the award for the Best Drama Series two years in a row, Game of Thrones also won the awards for the direction and writing categories of the award show. While the seventh installment of the show in on the way, George R. R Martin stated that the series is set to be finished with its eighth installment and “maybe” a prequel too.

On several red carpet interviews, Martin expressed his disappointment with some of the cast on the show not winning an award while he was very sure that they deserved to win. He further threw some light on his future work schedule.

When Martin was asked about any possibility of a prequel to the Game of Thrones, he said that those are simply speculations and that he is nowhere close to planning anything of that sorts, given that he still has two more books left for the series to be completed. He further stated that his sole concern at the moment is the completion of The Winds of Winter.

The sixth part of the series was set to be released this year itself but due to some of the pending work, George R.R Martin stated that the book supposed to be launched in the first half of the upcoming year. In some reports, an even snippet of the plot has been seen revealing that this part is set to witness the return of Jon Snow from death.

The writer’s publication house in the United States, Random House wiped away all the speculations regarding the release dates saying any date that is put up on the websites are a hoax because a fixed date is yet to be decided for the book launch. It is best advisable to follow Martin’s blog for the updated news about the book’s progress.

Amidst all the news about The Winds of Winter, all the speculation regarding the Game of Thrones prequel has left the fans intrigued. David Benioff, the showrunner has stated in some interviews that the prequel is a possibility, but he and co-producer D.B Weiss won’t be a part of the show anymore.

With all the work regarding the Game of Throne series and also the “rumored” prequel, the fans are still waiting eagerly for any update on the six installments of The Song of Ice and Fire. The prolific writer is on the way to getting it finished as soon as he can, and the due date for the launch can be estimated around of March 2017.

Although the fans may be a tad bit upset with the delay, Martin’s latest reports, and interviews have said that there is a compensatory work on the way which is sure to leave the fans craving for more. But well, that is not something new to the Game of Thrones writer.
