A new treat will once again come to the players of the life simulation video game “The Sims 4” developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts (EA).

Apparently, a new game pack officially called as “The Sims 4 Dine Out Game Pack” will be unveiled very soon which shall bring new dining out experiences for the players’ Sims.

The expansion pack shall also enable Sims to own a restaurant, customize it to their liking, and experiment with food, reports the Christian Times.

The game pack shall also bring along new items up for grabs for players even as their own Sims can still visit pre-made restaurants in the game.

Removing gender barriers

In addition to “The Sims 4 Dine Out Game Pack,” EA has released a free update which expanded the “Create A Sim” mode of the game with new gender customization options.

The new update actually allows players to create Sims with whatever physique, walk style, tone of voice, clothing, and appearance they want. There is also no limit to gender. In fact, it also allows same-sex relationships.

Apparently, the creators of “The Sims 4” have decided to open up gender customization options for the first time. The update removes gender boundaries in the 16-year-old franchise, notes the South China Morning Post.

In a recent statement, Maxis said that it wanted to make sure that “The Sims 4” players can create characters they can identify with or relate to through powerful tools that give them influence over a Sim’s gender, age, ethnicity, body type, and more.

Rachel Franklin, executive producer of “The Sims 4,” said that the developers have been working on the update for more than a year already. She said that female Sims can wear sharp men’s suits like Ellen DeGeneres and male Sims can wear heels like Prince.

She also explained that the update also allows players to change the sex of their Sims at any time and specify whether they can reproduce with other characters. Franklin said that Maxis worked with the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender advocacy group called Glaad on the update.

She added that they also followed the suggestion to remove gender symbols associated with characters in the game’s gallery.

Having difficulty coming to the PS4 and the Xbox One

“The Sims 4” was officially released to the PC and the Mac back in September 2014.

Following the timeline of the release of “The Sims 3” on the PC and the Mac back in 2009 which eventually rolled out to the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 about a year and a half later, the ported version of “The Sims 4” should have made it to the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One around the first quarter of this year.

Unfortunately, up until now, a fully compatible version of the game to the current generation gaming consoles has yet to come out.

Reports have it that game developer Maxis and The Sim Studios are struggling to port the game from PC to the consoles. Due to this technical glitch, the ported version of “The Sims 4” may possibly come out on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 by the end of this year or early in 2017.

For its porting problems, Maxis and game publisher EA can always resort to the reasoning that “The Sims 4” console issues are brought about by the fact that the game is a deeply-rooted PC game.

As such, developers almost always face a dead end or a bug that disrupts the whole game production process.
