‘The Sims 4’ City Living Expansion Makes the Life Simulation Game Bigger That it Has Ever Been Before

After a rather long wait for gamers, game developer Maxis Studios and game publisher Electronic Arts (EA) released on November 1 the latest expansion to the life simulation video game “The Sims 4” entitled “City Living.”

The expansion may not have turned the game into an open-world sandbox but it makes “The Sims 4” bigger than it ever has been before, reports Twinfinite.

In fact, it seems like Maxis Studios is saying that it is precisely the reason why it took them quite some time to release the latest expansion to “The Sims 4,” describing it as the biggest challenge it has ever faced for the franchise.

Grant Rodiek, a producer of Maxis Studios, confirmed in a recent statement that “City Living” is the most difficult world that they have ever made in the history of “The Sims” franchise. He added that “City Living” was just an overwhelming undertaking which is why he is extremely proud of the development team for a job well done.

Rodiek added that after the result for “City Living,” the development team has certainly plenty to be proud of for their splendid output.

The producer explained that there were just so many details and places to examine and that their art director was just doing passes and passes and passes to make sure that everything comes out perfect.

No compromise

Rodiek also said that his development team gave their all in the making of “The Sims 4: City Living” and did not compromise from how the game is envisioned, which he personally thinks they should have during the course of the expansion’s development, details of Hall of Fame Magazine.

The producer admitted that it was not without budget implications to the game development company so he also hinted that it was something that he and the development got yelled upon by some managers over at Maxis Studios.

The same successful development team of Rodiek is reportedly working on the new DLC for the game and they seem to be as nitpick as the way they were during the development of “City Living”

“City Living” broadens the already wide world of the base game which avid fans have been playing for a long time on the PC already.

Something scary first

Before the official rollout of the “City Living” expansion pack, something else had come to the game and it was kind of scary.

It was Ilan Eshkeri, “The Sims 4” composer, who revealed late in September through a post on Twitter that Simmers should expect something scary soon for the life simulation video game. He also added several spooky emojis on his post on Twitter including ghosts and spiders.

Apparently, Eshkeri was alluding to the Halloween update that came to the game prior to the “City Living” expansion pack.

Indicative that Eshkeri may have spoken a little too much in his tweet, he has since deleted the post from his Twitter account.

It turns out that the Halloween update is a mere stuff pack since “City Living” is an expansion pack and Maxis Studios would not dare release two expansion packs in a span of less than a month since it takes some time to develop one.

Eshkeri actually uploaded a video on his Instagram account alluding of a spooky music. Subsequently, the Sims Community had re-uploaded the video on YouTube.

But the game publisher took down both posts in a bid to stop the leak from further spreading.

However, a Brazilian fansite called AlalaSims have reuploaded the video and it has been up and running since.

Based on those who have seen and heard the sound on the video, the music was really spooky. When Eshkeri added the word ‘Dracula’ in the video, gamers knew that he was hinting at something involving supernatural entities.
