The “Real Housewives” franchise is moving forward quite nicely, as the first episode of the newest show in the series just premiered. There are various different expectations for how things might develop as the show progresses among fans of the franchise, and while most people seem to believe that there will be a heavy element of political drama involved due to the setting of the show, this doesn’t seem to be the case, according to people attached to the production.
Robyn Dixon in particular wanted to point out that while it’s normal for the people involved with the show to have their own specific political views, especially being so close to DC, they wanted to keep that off the screen and away from the main themes of the show itself. Because of this, politics should not play any major role in the upcoming episodes of the show. Of course, we wouldn’t be surprised if the producers still decided to throw in various references to the political situation surrounding the characters, but that could easily be done in a low-key style that still doesn’t draw any unnecessary attention to the politics around the characters.
It’s interesting to note that the cast members have been getting along surprisingly well so far, unlike what we’ve seen from previous installments. The common trend is that there is a lot of arguing and shouting matches, but this doesn’t seem to be the case here so far. In fact, everyone involved has managed to act in a very upstanding manner, at least for the most part, and things have been moving along quite well for the characters.
Of course, whether or not things will stay that way is hard to tell as we’ve only seen one episode of the show so far, and it’s entirely possible that the relationships of the characters could deteriorate significantly as it progresses. It would be entirely in the style of the “Real Housewives” franchise too, as the series is practically built on the idea of drama and thrives from these interactions. Most of the cast members are typically happy to engage in that drama as well, so it’s a bit strange to see these people getting along so well for now.
Fans of the series seem positively charged after this first episode too, and the show looks like it could have a lot of potential for success. Of course, some things may have to be changed in the formula over time in order to accommodate the show to its viewer base as closely as possible, but those are details that always get sorted out as time goes by. It’s normal for shows in this franchise to have a period of “finding themselves” in the beginning before the style becomes more concretized, but after that things usually start flowing much more smoothly. With that in mind, we expect to see a spectacular season from this installment of the show, given all the details about its premise.
In any case, it’s probably a bit too early to make predictions about the future of the series before we’ve had a chance to see at least a few more episodes. A lot can happen as the series progresses, and it’s even possible that the producers might have a change of heart regarding their stance on politics on the screen. If that happens, the first season of “Real Housewives of Potomac” could actually have a very interesting tone, different from what we’re used to from past installments in the franchise.
