TV shows based around relationship drama have generally been seen as a hit or miss type of thing, with few managing to truly captivate viewers and establish a solid audience. Considering that it’s been running for four seasons already, “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” must obviously be doing something right in this regard. And now, the show is back for its fifth season, which premiered with some heavy drama right from the start.
Although, it would be fair to acknowledge that the show’s popularity has been more of a rollercoaster than a straight climb, as the last season left fans questioning the future of the series to some extent. While the producers did their best to wrap things up in a favorable way and concluded most story threads properly, the production of the fourth season was accompanied by a variety of problems, and the final result was not as perfect as everyone had hoped.
Now though, it seems that the producers have realized their mistakes and have been hard at work to correct them, before the new season hits the screen. The recent reunion showed that the actresses still have a lot of energy in them and are ready to duke it out with each other with even more drama and fake friendships, and the first episode of the new season was a clear indication that “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” is back in full swing, for good or bad.
Brandi seems quite intent on winning back people’s trust, although this will be a very challenging task for her, one that she will have to deal with throughout the whole season. On the other hand, some fans have been skeptical of the direction where Brandi’s development has been moving. Her recent negative interactions with the rest of the cast were actually seen as a positive display by some viewers, as she was finally showing the willingness to stand up for herself and took an actual side in her life’s issues. And now it seems like she might revert to her old self, and not everyone has been too happy about that.
The show’s cast has been updated for the new season, with several new entries who will be accompanying the current cast. Among them is Lisa Rinna, who was given a lot of focus during this week’s episode, as well as Eileen Davidson. How the new actors will fit in with the current cast, and whether their addition will be an improvement to the overall formula, or desperate last attempts to save a dying show, viewers have an entire season ahead of them to find out. For what it’s worth, it will at least be an entertaining watch.
