‘The Originals’ Showrunner Teases Major Story Arc for Hayley and Elijah’s Romance in Season 4!

While fans are more concerned about how the Mikealsons will survive in the upcoming fourth season of “The Originals,” the show’s executive producer hints at another major story arc coming their way.

Speaking to TV Line, showrunner Michael Narducci previews Hayley and Elijah’s tumultuous love affair going through some major milestones and that the pair is set to go on the most dynamic journey in the future episodes.

Narducci talks about the star-crossed lovers’ fate when the series returns. The exec explains that while the fact that Hayley and Elijah’s brother Klaus are parents to Hope is already less than ideal, the two characters’ feelings for each other are strong.

The showrunner said that what adds interest to the dynamics is the fact that they are very different. Elijah, played by Daniel Gillies, is a thousand-year-old vampire with a sense of honor yet capable of doing unspeakable things.

On the other hand, Phoebe Tonkin’s Hayley, despite being a hybrid, has only lived a mortal life. She has values and ethics that equate those of a human being.

Narducci adds one strong thing they have in common is when their family is put in jeopardy as these two people are going to do whatever they have to do to protect their loved ones.

The showrunner did not go into details but added that the pair will endure a multitude of hurdles in the fourth season and that their love for each other will be put to the ultimate test.

The executive producer shares that despite all the weird situations they have been entangled with, Hayley will serve as the bridge to unite Elijah with Klaus.

Klaus and Hayley’s friendship will also be front and center in the upcoming fourth season. Now that Hope is growing up and harnessing her powers, the two will need to teach her how to use it well.

Narducci explains that Hope bonds Klaus and Hayley together so they have to get along well for the sake of their daughter.

The upcoming season of The CW series will see a time jump of five years with a grown-up Hope, played by Summer Fontana, and Hayley in a quest to find a solution to save the Mikaelsons.

Fans will remember that the Season 3 finale of “The Originals” ended on a not so good note for the Original family as Marcel led all the vampires to attack the Mikealson compound.

Freya is poisoned while Elijah and Kol were infected of Marcel’s venomous bite. Rebekah returns to reason with Marcel but was slowly succumbing to his curse.

Klaus was put on a show trial and was sentenced to be daggered with Papa Tunde’s blade, leaving him to suffer while paralyzed as long as Marcel desires.

The silver lining in the finale was when it was revealed that all was a plan to buy time to ensure that Klaus won’t be killed.

Freya was able to make a spell linking her and her siblings’ lives to Klaus, the latter being the anchor and hope of the whole Mikaelson family.

Before falling unconscious, Freya was able to transfer her and her siblings’ consciousness to a dream-like world of her creation, where they can be kept alive.

Marcel now regains control of New Orleans once again with his horde of vampires, while Vincent takes back control of the church and proclaims himself the sole regent of the coven, now that Davina is dead.

The Originals Season 4

Hayley takes the coffins containing Freya, Kol, Elijah, and Rebekah away from the city, along with Hope as they try to find cures for Freya’s poison, Rebekah’s Hex, Kol and Elijah’s incurable bite.

Ecumenical News reports that Hope has inherited most of his father’s traits particularly his powers and his short temper. Spoilers suggest that Hope will be a vital element to saving the Mikealsons as she is bound to them by blood.

The fourth season of “The Originals” will air on March 17, following the series finale of its parent show, “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8.
