In the end, it was revealed that it was the Mikaelsons’ plan all along to ensure the safety of Klaus’ life. Freya was able to buy time to find a spell to anchor herself and her siblings to Klaus’ life.
The rest of the Mikaelsons have been transported to a dream-like world whereas Marcel and his horde of vampires have taken over New Orleans once again.
The show ended on a cliffhanger of Hayley left to find a cure for Freya’s poison, Rebekah’s hex. and Elijah’s and Kol’s incurable bite in order to bring their family together.
The show has added a few actors to the roster of cast whom fans will meet when the new season premieres.
Neil Jackson has been cast as Alistair Duquesne, a vampire whom Klaus will interact most of the time in the upcoming season. Reports suggest that he will be a huge help to Klaus’ recuperation from the effects of the blade.
Christina Moses has also been added as Keelin, a bisexual werewolf, while Keahu Kahuanui will play Eddie, Joshua’s potential new boyfriend who is aware of the supernatural.
The show was moved to a midseason premiere and the episode order to 13, almost half than the previous seasons creating rumors of a cancellation. However, The CW and the producers of the show have not yet addressed the issue.
