Nina Dobrev has been claimed to be joining the fourth season herself, and other major names from “The Vampire Diaries” have been brought up as well. It looks like the producers really want to give a nice surprise to their fans.
But sadly, this also somewhat confirms the rumors of the show’s cancellation, as it looks more and more like the producers are trying to make this season extra special for some reason. The reason, according to those rumors, should be obvious at this point.
Remembering the original announcement regarding “The Vampire Diaries”, we expect that the showrunners are going to address the situation with the show’s potential ending at some point during the season, not before it. We can’t blame them, as the move is probably dictated by ratings.
This could also be a slim ray of hope for fans who want to see the show continued, as it could allow the producers to change their stance and announce that they’ll be making more seasons too. Looking at the whole situation though, this doesn’t seem very likely at the moment.
Those who enjoy “The Originals” should probably just prepare to enjoy the new season and leave any expectations for a continuation at the door. That would make for the best experience, and if a new season does actually end up getting announced, it will be an even sweeter revelation for those who didn’t even expect to see that.
