Plec also said that it is possible that “The Originals” may get renewed a couple more seasons and there is also a good chance that the TV series might become the home of some of the characters from “The Vampire Diaries” since the parent series will be ending soon.
She said that characters who make it alive after the end of “The Vampire Diaries” might eventually find their way to New Orleans and appear in “The Originals” Season 4. They might even be key to saving the Mikaelsons. Plec did not mention who it is going to be, but Damon and Stefan are almost shoo-ins.
The showrunner has been very cryptic about the fate of the spinoff TV series since she believes that “The Originals” will continue to run for another couple of years.
However, some critics are of the opinion that the renewal of “The Originals” for at least one more season shall depend on the rating of its upcoming fourth season.
If it is good, then The CW would have no problem giving the green light on Season 5 but if it does not meet expectations, then it would be very difficult to convince the network to give it a new lease on life.
