The people behind “The Originals” have already proven that they know how to develop a fast-paced story and make it work well, as viewers have seen in their previous works – and it seems that they’re strongly intent on continuing the trend for their current show. “The Originals” has only completed one full season and it’s currently in the middle of a second one, but it’s already managed to win the hearts of many, and the story is becoming more and more rapid with each installment.
This week, fans got to see several developments in the show, and the episode left with a dramatic cliffhanger which would surely leave some more dedicated fans at the edges of their seats until next week. Cami wanted to change her advisor during one of her therapy sessions with Finn, which resulted in him asking her out on a date. Meanwhile, Cami meets up with Hayley and Aiden, and they start plotting their plan for capturing Finn. Using a special pair of shackles that can disable the magical abilities of a person, they intend on attacking him during his date with Cami.
During the date itself, they set the plan in motion, staging an attack on Cami to provoke Finn into coming to her defense. Cami disappears, and Finn starts looking for her, contacting Aiden, who leads him to a church where he and Cami had prepared his capture. In the end, even though the plan had to see some last-minute revisions due to unexpected developments (as it usually happens), they succeeded in putting the cuffs on Finn.
The episodes ends a bit unexpectedly, as Esther manages to find Cami while she’s at the bar, and prepares to cast a spell on her. While it would be a bit strange to see Cami’s character killed off at this particular point in the show’s progression, it should be obvious from the previous work of the producers that they really don’t hold back when they want to shock their audience, and they are seemingly prepared to go quite far.
In any case, episode 8 of this season is already shaping up to be really interesting, if only for the conclusion of the cliffhanger that episode 7 ended with. Most fans seem certain that Cami will live, as evidenced by discussions on messaging boards. The producers themselves have obviously not given any hints on that matter, and it wouldn’t make sense for them to, considering this is one of the most important points of this season so far. The moment has definitely been prepared with a lot of care and attention, and it’s good to see it all coming together so nicely.
