‘The Originals’ and ‘The Vampire Diaries’ Executive Producers Get Candid About Another Crossover Episode

Fans of “The Vampire Diaries” and its spin-off “The Originals” are in for a treat as executive producers for both The CW hit shows have recently opened up about another possible crossover episode between the two supernatural drama TV series.

“The Vampire Diaries” showrunner Caroline Dries and “The Originals” executive producer Michael Narducci spoke to TV Line recently and say that they are now thinking of ways to merge the storylines of both series.

Dries says that they are finding ways to make it work, but there’s nothing concrete yet. Narducci dished that the flash-forward is an element that can make the crossover happen. Both shows have that as the potential common ground and that makes a crossover episode in the future very possible.

Both showrunners still don’t know when the crossover will happen let alone if it will occur in both shows or just one of the two, but with the two of them confirmed to be planning it, fans can soon expect another crossover episode this season.

If indeed it will happen, then this will be the third crossover episode for both shows. The first one was during “The Vampire Diaries” Episode 20 of Season 4 that also served as the backdoor pilot for ‘The Originals.”

The second one came during the 100th episode of “The Vampire Diaries” wherein Katherine, played by Nina Dobrev, is dying and Klaus and Rebekah decided to visit Mystic Falls. Elijah also appeared in Katherine’s hallucinations.

“The Vampire Diaries” is currently on its seventh season while “The Originals” is now on its third season. The Mikaelson family appeared as the main antagonist in “The Vampire Diaries” Season 3 with Klaus entering the show in Season 2.

Despite the large connection “The Vampire Diaries” and “The Originals” possess, the executive producers acknowledge their differences. They also noted that “The Originals” have proven its worth as a standalone show and not just as a spinoff.

For instance, “The Vampire Diaries” characters could just die at any given time as their fates rely on the Mikealsons as they are sired to their bloodlines.

Narducci then reassured fans that they will create ways to make sure that “The Originals” does not make possible the death of the Salvatore brothers, Stefan and Damon, played by Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder, respectively.

Meanwhile, the upcoming episode of ‘The Originals” will see a possible Mikaelson family reunion. According to the Christian Post, Freya, played by Reya Voelkel, will do everything in her power to protect her family and to prevent her brothers from killing each other.

The past episodes of “The Originals” have been building the tension between Klaus, played by Joseph Morgan, and Elijah, played by Daniel Gillies.

The rift between the brothers started when Klaus found out that Elijah turned Rebecca Breed’s Aurora and compelled her to hurt him. Fans of the show are now waiting for Klaus’ retaliation

The upcoming episode will still try to figure out where Aurora’s loyalty lies. Her character still remains a mystery to fans as it was revealed that she was in love with Klaus when he was still human.

However, keeping her family together won’t come as an easy ordeal for Freya as the next episode will bring another conflict in New Orleans.

Realty Today reports that the town will face the challenge of The Trinity and The Strix which will affect the Mikaelsons as Claire Holt’s Rebekah becomes the target of the threat.

The synopsis of the sixth episode titled “Beautiful Mistake” suggests that Elijah and Klaus must put all their differences aside and work together to save their sister.

The Originals Season 3

Elsewhere, the upcoming episode will also see the encounter of The Strix with Hayley, played by Phoebe Tonkin, and Marcel, played by Charles Michael Davis. The encounter will apparently lead the two to a shocking discovery about the group.

Rumors are also rife that Marcel will be tempted to join The Strix regime. As per the show’s producers, Marcel has his hierarchy of loyalties. He’s in love with Rebekah and loves Davina, played by Danielle Campbell.
