We recently got to see the conclusion of the third season of “The Mindy Project”, and the show ended on an overall good note with regards to fan reactions – everyone seemed satisfied with how the producers handled the season finale, and it was obvious that quite a lot of effort was put into it. After the excitement settled down though, some fans started asking the obvious question: what’s in store for the future of “The Mindy Project”, and are we going to see another season or not?
There have been rumors in both directions, and it’s certainly hard to tell where the truth lies. What we do know so far though, is that Mindy Kaling spoke about the show and said that she doesn’t believe that this would be the end of the story. There’s still a lot to expand on in the current plot, and the producers realize that huge potential, which is why it’s very likely that the show might come back to the screen, according to Kaling.
Of course, that was just her opinion, and it’s by no means indicative of any actual developments behind the scenes, but it’s good to at least see that prominent cast members are also hopeful for a new season. Kaling also added that her colleague Chris Messina, who plays the role of Daniel, deserves an Emmy for his performance on the show so far.
She specifically made that comment about the actor’s role in the last episode of the season, and many of the show’s fans – and critics – seem to agree with her that Messina really did deliver a fantastic performance.
Currently, the most prominent rumors are claiming that Fox are looking into the possibility of continuing the show for at least one more season, and they’re still trying to sort out the information they have about its ratings and fan reception. It’s pretty clear that they would want to ensure that this production is successful if they invest more into it, but currently, there are numerous indicators that extending “The Mindy Project” for a fourth season would be a winning move for the network.
All fans of the show can do at this point is patiently sit and wait for the network, or some of the show’s producers, to announce something officially. If they are indeed planning to extend it for a fourth season, we have no guarantee that it will follow the same release schedule as previous ones, meaning that we might have to wait a bit longer for the new episodes. In any case, the producers should at least not keep their fans waiting for the official confirmation for too long, as their ratings may end up suffering from that.
