‘The Legend of Zelda’ on Wii U to Still Come Out Even if Nintendo Unravels New NX Gaming Console!

Because of the long delay on the release of the action-adventure video game “The Legend of Zelda” on the Wii U gaming console, there have been speculations going around that Nintendo is seriously considering not releasing the game anymore on the gaming platform.

Reports have it that Nintendo is planning to roll out its new NX gaming console soon. So rather than focus on developing “The Legend of Zelda” game on its Wii U, which is way past its prime, the Japanese gaming company will reportedly focus on developing the version of the game on its latest gaming console.

However, Eiji Aonuma, long-time series producer of “The Legend of Zelda,” said recently that they have not given up on the development of the game for Wii U.

The series producer also denied reports that Nintendo is already abandoning its plan for the development of “The Legend of Zelda” on Wii U because of the upcoming NX console, notes the Christian Today.

Aonuma also debunked speculations that the release of the “The Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes” on 3DS last month caused further delay in the release of “The Legend of Zelda” on Wii U.

He said that the new game on the 3DS did not, in any way, made an impact to the progress of the game for Wii U because the development of each one had no bearing on the other. He added that each game had its own development team, details the Christian Post.

Aonuma also said that sometimes, people on the handheld team do work on the consoles but it was a separate team.

Too long in the making

Nintendo formally announced “The Legend of Zelda” on Wii U as early as June last year during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2014. Back then, the consensus among gamers was that the Japanese gaming company would roll out the game this year.

Unfortunately, more than one year after the game was officially announced, “The Legend of Zelda” on Wii U has yet to be released and it is unlikely to happen within the year too.

There have been speculations that Nintendo might be releasing the game next year, but those rumors were doused with cold water when the 2015 second quarter financial report of Nintendo was released early in August and indicated a TBA on the release date of “The Legend of Zelda” on Wii U instead of a more specific 2016.

During the E3 2015, Nintendo announced and showed a gameplay trailer of “The Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes” on 3DS quashing yet again the hopes of Wii U gamers to finally get their hands on “The Legend of Zelda” version on their gaming console.

But if there is one thing that they can be sure about, “The Legend of Zelda” on Wii U will eventually be released. However, since Nintendo has yet to make a statement or announcement about an exact release date, the gamers’ anxious moments continue.

Three decades of the game on Nintendo gaming consoles

legend of zelda

Nintendo recently said that it is finetuning the game on Wii U to make it the best “The Legend of Zelda” game ever although no one can really tell if that is the real reason indeed.

Latest reports say that the reason why Nintendo delayed the release of “The Legend of Zelda” on Wii U is because it was waiting for 2016 before it finally unveils the game. It turns out that 2016 will mark the 30th anniversary of “The Legend of Zelda” game on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). And nothing could be fitting than launching “The Legend of Zelda” game on Wii U next year.

  1. Seems a shame Nintendo didnt learn from the Skyward Sword experience. That took way too long to come out, on a platform that was well past its prime (Wii). I fell in love with the Zelda series around 1985 when I first started playing it but found that by the time S-Sword came out it felt really dated and lackluster compared to other rpg’s on the market at the time. Sadly I have not gone back to Zelda since, and reading this does nothing to make me want to. Lift your game Nintendo!

  2. I can’t believe this. If Nintendo decides to hold the game for nx and wii u I’m going to be so upset. Just let us play the game when it’s done. The people who want it on the nx will still buy it. I don’t get their logic. And this is ridiculous.
