He actually came up with two possible theories, one where “The Legend of Zelda” on Wii U is a prequel to “The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess” and one where it is a sequel to the latter. Both his arguments and reasoning are plausible.
In fact, if the upcoming game is going to be a prequel to “The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess,” it is going to bridge the gap between “Ocarina of Time” and “The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess” which is what Aonuma hinted.
The prequel idea is hinged on the fact that during the fabled Gerudo-Hylian War discussed in “Ocarina of Time,” many locations on the “The Legend of Zelda” on Wii U’s map are in the exact same place as the 1998 classic video game.
Commonwealth listed Hyrule Field, Death Mountain, and Zora’s Domain as places that are in the exact same spots. Then in “The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess,” the Bridge of Hylia was showcased in the only gameplay demo and it becomes clear that some fusion between the two games is taking place.
However, until Nintendo confirms the connection in all of the three games, these are mere speculations at this time and should be taken with a fine grain of salt.
Hopefully this also comes out in the NX.
