There are quite a few major releases coming up in gaming over the next years, but very few are on the level of the new “Legend of Zelda”. It’s the next entry in a franchise that has established itself as one of the most iconic names in gaming, period – and it’s understandable why so many gamers are eagerly looking forward to get their hands on any kind of information about the new Zelda game. And now, a new gameplay trailer was released, showing off some of the features of the open-world adventure title.
The video was presented by Shigeru Miyamoto and Eiji Aonuma themselves, who showed different parts of the game and played through it in chunks. In the beginning of the video, the sun is setting, and Link is looking over Hyrule. At this point, the presenters make a comment about the design of the world, stating that they’ve intentionally made it with various vantage points spread throughout, ensuring that players will always have a chance to take a look over their entire surroundings.
And the world doesn’t just look huge – it is. According to the developers, anything the player can see around them, they can actually reach – and they pointed towards a large tower on the horizon as an example.
The game will allow players to mark interesting locations on the map, and it will also have advanced movement features, giving players the opportunity to explore its vast world more easily. There will also be options for simplified fast traveling, such as riding on a horse which is somewhat automated in order to allow players to just relax and take in the scenery.
Not only that, but Link has the ability to fight on a horse as well, and this was previewed in the gameplay video, although the event ended shortly after that and not much more was shown from the upcoming game.
One thing is clear though – the new “Legend of Zelda” is about to make the headlines in a pretty major way, and it will be talked about for a long time. It’s obvious that a lot of effort is being put into the game’s development, and the developers aren’t just planning on relying on the franchise’s previous success. They could definitely do that to some extent, but then the series would be ruined forever – and with it, one of the most cherished things for gamers all over the world. On the other hand, if the new Zelda game is as successful as it’s shaping up to be, it could be an amazing experience that will be the major talk of many gamers for a long time.
