Fans of “The Legend of Zelda” have been excited at the prospect of getting news about a new title at E3, and they got even more than that – Nintendo announced not one, but two new games in the franchise at the event. The first one is titled “The Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes”, and it’s primarily focused on multiplayer gaming, arriving to the Nintendo 3DS in the fall season. The title was officially unveiled at the E3 event held by Nintendo, where Eiji Aonuma and Hiromasa Shikata shed some light on the new game.
It’s going to be all about solving puzzles and completing dungeons, cooperating with up to two other players in order to get through its many difficult levels. The game will support offline play as well, so those who’re not that fond of multiplayer won’t have to worry about missing out on the fun.
However, playing with friends is definitely the better option, as it brings a lot of fun to the gameplay. Players can, for example, stand on each other’s shoulders in order to reach higher locations in a mechanic referred to as “Totem”, and there are various other mechanics that allow for synergy between different players, and highly cooperative gameplay.
The characters’ outfits are going to play an interesting role in the whole setup as well, as there will be different collectible costumes that players can obtain throughout their playing, each of them providing a different set of new abilities to the player character. Classic characters from the “Zelda” franchise can get various new interesting outfits, including dresses and even a Samurai armor.
Those who don’t want to play with others can still complete levels on their own, as the two empty spots will be filled by “doll” characters who team up with Link, allowing the player to switch between the three characters as they see fit. This should still make it possible to solve all puzzles, but of course, it would likely not match the fun and excitement of trying to coordinate your actions with two other players.
The other game that was announced by Nintendo at E3 is a 3DS version of “The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Warriors”, the hybrid between “Zelda” and “Dynasty Warrior”. That one is coming a bit later, scheduled for Q1 2016, and the 3DS version is going to get some exclusive content too – Tetra and King Daphnes, two new characters will be unlocked in the handheld edition specifically. However, everyone will have access to the characters as long as they own the 3DS version.
