Nintendo hasn’t revealed which version of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild would be showcased at The Game Awards. The game is rumored to release with the Nintendo Switch, but since the Switch is still in the development phase, many feel that Nintendo would show the Wii U version.
The players saw the first glimpse of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at the 2016 E3. The publishers had live streamed the event on Twitch. However, since the June E3, Nintendo hasn’t been revealing anything new about The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
The news of Nintendo showcasing something on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has gotten fans excited since they hope that the developers will reveal another new aspect of the game. Nintendo had earlier announced that they would launch The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in January 2017.
The initial assumption was that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild would be the console game for Nintendo Switch. Fans were excited for the launch in January, when Nintendo announced that Nintendo Switch wouldn’t release before March 2017.
Tech Times reported that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of Wild, is currently in the testing phase. The localization step for the game is taking more time than they had expected it to, and hence the developers do not have a set time for the release of the game.
Rumors indicate that the localization phase for the game might continue for the entire year, which eliminates January as the possible time of the release.
Nintendo is expected to carry out the testing phase they complete the localization. The testing for all the versions in the different languages will take at least six months. This makes it evident that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will not release even on time for the Nintendo Switch.
Given the popularity of The Legend of Zelda franchise, it would have been a great launch title for Switch. It follows the story of the kingdom of Hyrule. The game follows the Triforce, which is a triangular object that contains a lot of mystical powers. Ganon, an evil princess, steals the Triforce in an attempt to put the whole world under his control.
However, before Ganon can realize his plans, Princess Zelda takes the Triforce from him and scatters eight pieces of the Triforce all over the kingdom. Princess Zelda orders Impa, her nursemaid to find the man worthy enough to defeat Ganon and find the pieces of the Triforce.
Since the game had garnered a lot of attention, it was considered to be a system seller, and many felt that Nintendo should delay the launch of Nintendo Switch until the game is ready for release.
Since there’s no chance of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild releasing with Nintendo Switch, the developers will have to think of other titles that they would launch with the Switch. Nintendo had never spoken about The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild being a launch title for Switch, but this was the only game that Nintendo talked about, they had assumed it was.
