It has been reported that the latest entry to the open world action-adventure video game “The Legend of Zelda” will come out on the Nintendo Wii U and its latest platform, the NX, early next year although the Japanese gaming company has yet to specify an exact release date.
Nintendo has already confirmed that the game shall officially come out as “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” next year but it did not say exactly when.
In addition to the game, players are also looking ahead to the release of the Nintendo NX, the newest gaming platform of the Japanese gaming company, which is reportedly meant to rival the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One, to some extent that is.
However, there has been a reported leak on the release date for the Link Amiibo action figure that reportedly came out in Nintendo’s European websites that say that it would hit the shelves on March 4, 2017.
It has become the standard for Nintendo to release an Amiibo figure or figures close to the release date of an upcoming game. The strategy is ideal because the action figure or figures are meant to build hype and add to the marketing and promotions of the upcoming game.
So if the Amiibo figure of Link is to come out on March 4, then it is likely that the game itself, “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” will come out a few days later.
If an Amiibo figure is indicative of a rough time period in which the newest iteration of the franchise will appear, it seems like “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” could very well be the flagship launch day title for the NX, notes Gamerant.
Based on that premise, “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” could be launched on the latest gaming platform and the Wii U on that same date or not long after.
Skeptics doubt the March 4 release date
However, there are also skeptics on the supposed leaked release date of the Amiibo figure since March 4 falls on a Saturday and gaming companies do not do launching on a weekend.
A closer look into March 4 revealed that it shall actually mark one year from the time that “The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD” came out and its Wolf Link Amiibo.
As such, the assumption was that someone was doing some work on Nintendo’s site and partially copied a date as part of a test and inadvertently put it live for a period, details Nintendo Life.
However, a March 2017 release date for both the Amiibo figure and the game itself seems plausible since it is parallel to Nintendo’s most recent statements that it would release the NX in the first quarter of 2017.
The information is just a rumor, but if even the Amiibo figure ends up being confirmed by Nintendo, there’s a strong chance gamers will be seeing the newest version of Link and Nintendo’s newest console in the very near future, one after the other, or perhaps together at the same time.
Wary of negative feedbacks
While gamers of the Wii U have been looking forward to a version of “The Legend of Zelda” on their gaming console for nearly three years, it was only during the Electronic Entertain Expo (E3) 2016 that Nintendo formally announced the game’s arrival on the platform.
It seems that Nintendo wanted to make sure also that when its latest gaming platform comes out next year, it shall have a bigger title that would easily have gamers hooked into it right away.
While every Nintendo gamer is looking forward to getting hold of “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” either on the Wii U or the NX, some critics note that the Japanese gaming company should be wary of possible negative scenarios that could go wrong once the game comes out next year.
One of the possible negative feedbacks that “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” may get from gamers is its lack of dungeons.
