Nintendo has released a new teaser video for “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” and it appears that the Koroks have returned.
Also known as Forest Spirits, Koroks are a race from “The Legend of Zelda” video game series that evolved from the Kokiri species. The Koroks are creatures with small bodies that live in the Forest Haven.
Just like the Kokiris, they don’t talk to outsiders and are mostly afraid of people. However, Link can obtain items from them such as Korok seeds and Korok leaves.
Many of their species are named after trees such as Makar, who plays his little leaf violin during the Korok Ceremony and Hollo, who studied potion-making and uses Boko Baba seeds to concoct his brews.
The small creatures made their first appearance in 2003’s “The Wind Waker” hiding in the branches of the Great Deku tree and are now making a return for the newest installment.
Not much is known how the game will feature the Koroks again but reports say that most of them will be hiding in Hyrule, where the game is set.
In the clip, the Koroks can be seen hidden throughout the land and can also be found in random places such as beneath rocks and near pools of water. Link was given Korok seeds as a reward for finding them.
“The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” is the 19th installment in the popular game series and the first among the franchise developed with a high-definition resolution.
It will feature an open-world gameplay, a departure from the series’ normal convention, such as the inclusion of a realistic, advanced physics engine, as well as the ability to play through the game’s dungeons in any order of the player’s choosing.
The game will be set in the ruined Kingdom of Hyrule, 100 years after the slumber of the protagonist Link. The story involves his awakening to a mysterious voice as he follows its direction and embarks on a quest to defeat Calamity Ganon.
Although trapped, Calamity Ganon has continued to grow in power and Link must defeat it before it breaks free and destroys the world.
The video game was first announced in January 2013. It was officially teased during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2014 and was scheduled for a 2015 release.
The game’s release was delayed multiple times until Nintendo announced that it will now launch in 2017. No specific date has been given but fans hope that it won’t be pushed back again.
“The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” will simultaneously be released on Wii U and NX. It will also include a compatibility with Amiibo figurines, which will be sold separately. During this year’s E3, the game was finally showcased.
Christian Daily reports that the upcoming video game will have more than 100 Shrines of Trials for the players to discover and explore.
As they work their way through traps and puzzles, they will earn special items and rewards that will help them in their adventure. Puzzles in the game often have multiple answers and secrets can also be found everywhere.
The teaser for the anticipated game also showcased the location of “The Temple of Time.” Ardent gamers are familiar with it because it already appeared in “Ocarina of Time.” According to Yahoo News, it is the home of the Master Sword.
However, the outlet reports that “The Temple of Time” that will be introduced in “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of Wild” will be different from the world that players know from the previous installment.
Reports say that while its architectural setting has similar features, it is no longer located at the heart of the Hyrule Castle and the towns that neighbor it.
