Based on their positions during the standoff at the close of episode 11, it seems that Ramsey and his allies have the upper hand. Apart from having the sub and the civilians compared to Chandler, who only has a handful of soldiers supporting him, they have also surrounded the USS Nathan James quite well.
However, every viewer of “The Last Ship” knows that the USS Nathan James can turn things around because it has a full complement of state-of-the-art artillery and other weaponry. Now that their goal is practically within their arm’s reach, Capt. Chandler will certainly not surrender easily because he knows what is at stake and what losing meant to the American people.
It appears that the showdown will indeed happen between Capt. Chandler’s team and Ramsey’s allies on episode 12 and if the synopsis of the episode is to be the basis, it looks like USS Nathan James will be able to extricate itself in the mess and will eventually come out of it even smoking.
Accordingly, Chandler and his team will set out to find supplies and materials for Dr. Scott’s lab and further her work against the virus. They will come across with bounty hunters and the Immunes along the way.
Dr. Scott’s efforts to find a spreadable cure for the virus will depend on the scientist who plotted and nearly erased mankind, notes Entertainment Focus.
