‘The Last of Us 2’ Rumors Indicate that It is Going to be a Prequel of the First Game and Shall be Titled Days Gone

With the impending release of the open world action-adventure third-person shooter video game “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” exclusively on the PlayStation 4 on April 26, reports have it that the game developer Naughty Dog is now focusing on the development of its action-survival horror game “The Last of Us 2.”

Indicative of the huge gamer anticipation and excitement to the sequel of the 2013 hit game, there has been plenty of rumors and speculations about the video game on the internet particularly its characters and gameplay.

However, all these remain as speculation until Naughty Dog either makes the confirmation or denial to these rumors.

One of the more interesting latest rumors about “The Last of Us 2” is that it is going to be a prequel to the original game so much so that it shall be titled “Days Gone,” reports Blasting News.

From previous speculations that “The Last of Us 2” shall only feature Ellie and no longer Joel, there are now reports saying that it is also possible that the two will not be featured in the upcoming game since it is going to be a prequel so they will not be part of the storyline.

In fact, there are some gamers who believe that the journey of Joel and Ellie came to a perfect end in the first game. But there are also others who think that there are more stories to tell with the two characters around.

Leader of The Fireflies

Those who made the disclosure that “The Last of Us 2” is going to be a prequel of “The Last of Us” were supported by reports that the game will feature Marlene as she journeys towards becoming the leader of The Fireflies.

In addition, there are also reports saying that the next installment of the game shall also feature the journey of Tommy, who happens to be the brother of Joel.

But if it is up to fans and gamers, they would rather see the next game picking up from where it left off at the end of “The Last of Us” and continue playing through the journey of Joel and Ellie.

In addition to the gameplay, gamers are also getting excited about the possible release date of “The Last of Us 2” on the PlayStation 4. Based on the recent comment of Shuhei Yoshida, president of worldwide studios at Sony Computer Entertainment, Naughty Dog was indeed entertaining a few ideas with regards to “The Last of Us 2.”

He said that since the first game was launched back in 2013, creative director Neil Druckmann, who is also the man behind the development of “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End,” has been talking about some ideas for a potential sequel to “The Last of Us.”

However, Yoshida also said then that nothing is set in stone and that the people at Naughty Dog are likewise excited for the development of the sequel to “The Last of Us,” notes the Christian Today.

The Sony Computer Entertainment exec also disclosed that Druckmann is also looking into doing some experiments on the sequel to make the game even more interesting.

New main protagonist

As far as the game’s plotline goes, there are reports saying that Ellie might become the main protagonist for “The Last of Us 2” because Joel will all be dead and gone.

the last of us

The rumors about Joel no longer being part of “The Last of Us 2” came from voice actor Nolan North who said back in June of last year that his character in the sequel has apparently met an untimely demise.

Although North did not say which character would it be, he was the one who lent his voice to Joel in “The Last of Us.” North is also the voice actor for Nathan Drake in “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.”

Reports also have it that Drake will also die towards the end of the role-playing game so it is not clear which character was North referring to, whether it is Joel or Drake.
