As the video games of today bring better graphics, seemingly more lifelike, and put gamers in real-life situations the popularity of them is also growing. With the rise of virtual reality, paths that developers take seem to point right towards that as an end game.
There are plenty of “the end of the world” style games and The Last of Us 2 is going to be a sequel to one of the more popular. The original The Last of Us, was released back in June 2013 and since hardcore gamers got their hands on it, the talk about wanting to see a sequel has been heard. The developers have finally put something together that sources are claiming will be well worth the wait.
The Last of Us 2 rumors and other speculation hit the web a few months ago and is now really starting to pick up as online sources start to talk more about what fans of the original can expect. During a conference last year, it was noted by one voice actor that he knew “they’re doing a The Last of Us 2.” With good news comes bad and for the bad news, that actor then retracted his statement, saying that he “certainly” did not know anything.
The developer, Naughty Dog, is not only the developer of the original The Last of Us, but they are about to release the already popular Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. There are very few developers out there that can successfully work on two major projects at the same time and now that Uncharted is expected to be released in April, fans are hoping resources will be moved over to The Last of Us 2. The brand new game in the series has not been denied at all, but the writer and creative director of the first said that a second game is only in prototype stages at this time.
At this point, it has been noted, that there are plenty of ideas for the second game and most of them came while Bruce Stanley and Neil Druckmann were working on Uncharted 4 together. The ideas and cast of characters were getting closer to finalize right before the two were asked to work on Uncharter 4. As you can imagine, that puts a strain on the current project and that is the reason you see such a delay between installments for some video game franchises. The story for Joel and Ellie in The Last of Us 2 might be set into place, but that is only one part of the development process.
