“The Last of Us 2” may not have been confirmed officially yet, but we do know the game is coming, thanks to a “slip-up” by one of the main voice actors from the original. Of course, no details are known yet, and we have no idea what direction the developers might decide to take the game in. The way the original story ended left a lot of potential for further development, and the plot could realistically branch off in many different ways.
And needless to say, fans of the game have been taking the opportunity to discuss possible ways for it to continue, and they’ve been trying to guess what the sequel might involve. As we said above, the possibilities are numerous – but this only adds to the excitement of fans who’re quite inspired to come up with creative ideas about the next installment of the game.
The way the first game ended was a bit disappointing to some, but the writers stood by their decision and have said that it’s exactly what they intended. Obviously, this didn’t go over too well with certain fans who’d been hoping for a more positive outcome, but the way the whole game was set up didn’t exactly imply that it would end on a happy note.
Among the many discussions about the upcoming game, we’re also seeing some fans put even more effort into their ideas, coming up with things with concept art and interesting drawings that show potential new environments and character designs.
And of course, this concept art has been enjoying a lot of popularity in the game’s community, as the first game was quite artistic itself, and its fans always love seeing another well-done piece of fan art. Especially when it’s art that explores possible future ideas for the game, and while there is a lot of that all over the Internet, certain pieces manage to stand out quite a lot better than others.
Some fans who’ve been producing fan art have apparently been taking inspiration from “Uncharted 4” when trying to figure out the kind of art style that the new game might have. This is actually not a bad idea, as the studio would have obviously evolved their artistic direction by the time the next installment rolls around, and looking at how they’re handling other games under their development could be a good hint about what we can expect from the next one.
Are we going to see completely new environments in “The Last of Us 2”? This is a major question that’s been the subject of a lot of discussion among fans, as the original setting might be a bit too overdone now to go back to it. It was original and fresh when the first game came out, but right now fans want to see something new and exciting, so forcing them to go through yet another urban jungle might actually work against this game’s success, instead of building on what was established in the first title.
Some fans have also been wishing for even more darkness in the plot – as if the original game didn’t push that trend far enough, some apparently believe that the developers can do even more with regards to creating a grim, dark environment with a plot that can bring a player to tears. However, it’s not clear if this would actually be a good idea for the game as it might turn some players away.
