It was Director Bird who announced on social media late last year the entry of Giacchino to write the score of “The Incredibles 2.” For his part, Giacchino also posted on Twitter by saying that he is looking forward to being back in business with Mr. I and Family, referring to Mr. Incredible and his superhero family.
Bird and Giacchino have recently worked together also on Disney’s “Tomorrowland” shown last year. But the composer has been real busy as of late. He has scored some of the latest blockbusters including “Jurassic World” and “Inside Out.” He is still working on providing the score for “Zootopia” also for Disney, and “Star Trek Beyond.”
When asked about the difference between the preparation for “The Incredibles” more than 10 years ago to the pre-production work for the upcoming “The Incredibles 2,” Bird said that when the first movie came out in 2004, there were only two superhero movie franchises at that time.
He said that the two superhero film franchises then were “X-Men” and “Spider-Man.” Bird said in jest, that now, there are 400 billion of them and there’s a new superhero movie every two weeks.
But instead of being intimidated by the influx of superhero films, he said that they will try to keep “The Incredibles 2” focused in the area that the first film centered on, which is a little bit more about characters and relationships and stuff like that.
