With a June 21, 2019 playdate already confirmed, Director Brad Bird of “The Incredibles 2” still has plenty of time to focus on coming up with the perfect storyline to the sequel of the 2004 animated blockbuster film.
While initial reports say that Director Bird, who is also writing the script for “The Incredibles 2,” is close to finishing the screenplay for the movie, it seems that the plenty of time from now until the movie’s release date indicate that nothing is final as of this time.
However, latest reports indicate that the main plotline of the movie would revolve around Jack-Jack, the youngest of the superhero Parr family, and his eventual transformation into a villain, notes Movie News Guide.
There are speculations that the opening scene of the movie would actually see Jack-Jack maundering and maneuvering as a big boy.
Since “The Incredibles 2” will feature a six-year time jump from the original film, Jack-Jack would be around six years old in the upcoming film.
These reports are also consistent with previous speculations that Mr. Incredible / Bob Parr and Elastigirl / Helen Parr are already retired from their superhero crime fighting ways. In their place is their daughter Violet and Rush, who are now taking care of the evils in the society.
It could be recalled that in the original film shown in 2004, Jack-Jack defeated Syndrome even though he was not able to walk and talk yet. But the problem of his superpower is that he will have difficulty regulating and controlling it. So when a villain becomes his teacher, that will be the time when he will transform into a villain himself.
But knowing Disney and Brad Bird, it is likely that all’s well that end’s well in Jack-Jack’s case so fans should expect him returning to the fold of his superhero family and be good again.
Working on a bunch of ideas
In a recent interview, Brad Bird said that he had a bunch of ideas that he wanted to put in “The Incredibles” but those just did not fit. So he is now thinking of having some of those incorporated in “The Incredibles 2,” notes The Bitbag.
He said that if he can come up with a story that is as good or better than the first film, then he would really be returning to the world of “The Incredibles 2.”
As it is, Bird’s priority is coming up with a perfect story and he appears to be putting his thoughts together while doing the script for the upcoming film.
While Bird works on the story, it seems that pre-production for the movie is about to start soon. Josh Hollander, the manager of the 3D elements in “The Incredibles,” said that they had a lot of fun working on the original film and they would love to do it again in the sequel. He added that it is an interesting challenge to work on technology because it is very dynamic.
Hollander also disclosed that the first movie took four years to complete so pre-production and production for “The Incredibles 2” would likely begin next year for the film to make it to its June 21, 2019 playdate with ample time for marketing and promotions.
Confirming the release date
Contrary to the previous reports that the sequel to the 2004 animated superhero film “The Incredibles” will come out in June 2018, Disney Pictures has confirmed the release date of “The Incredibles 2” in October.
When its subsidiary Marvel Studios calendared all its film releases from next year until 2020, it was actually culled from the complete list of movies that Disney pictures would be releasing from January 29, 2016 to November 2020.
The list has been posted by The Disney Movie Review and it contains 37 movies in all including the 14 previously-listed Marvel movies.
Among the upcoming Disney animated films with Pixar Studios, “Finding Dory” will come out first on June 17, 2016, followed by “Cars 3” on June 16, 2017, “Coco” on November 22, 2017, “Toy Story 4” on June 15, 2018, and finally “The Incredibles 2” on June 21, 2019.
The much-awaited “Frozen 2” was not on the list, but Disney left a window open when it included an unnamed Disney movie to come out during the second half of 2018.
