The Incredibles 2 Parr Family Will Likely Face an Even Tougher Villain than Syndrome, And More

Except for its playdate of June 21, 2019 that has already been confirmed by Disney Pictures, not much has been officially known with regards to “The Incredibles 2.”

Of course, Director Brad Bird will return to write the script and direct the movie. It was actually Disney CEO Robert Iger who made the announcement in March last year that “The Incredibles 2” is a go and that writer and director Brad Bird shall take on the same role he took for “The Incredibles” when it was shown in cinemas in 2004.

Bird also made the announcement late last year that award-winning composer Michael Giacchino will return for the sequel to the hit animated movie. He also announced that Samuel L. Jackson will return, or at least his voice that is, for the character Frozone, a superhero friend of the Parr family.

As far as plotline goes, previous reports have been fairly consistent that villain Syndrome will return and that he will come back to become the mentor of Jack-Jack, the youngest of the Parr family. Syndrome shall reportedly nurture the shape-shifting powers of Jack-Jack and turn him against his family including Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, Violet, and Dash, notes Gabvine.

In addition, there will also be the Underminer, who was a mole-like villain who appeared towards the end of the film “The Incredibles.”

It is unlikely that Brad Bird will settle for mere old villains or characters if he wanted to make an even bigger and better sequel so there is a good chance that an even tougher villain would be introduced in “The Incredibles 2.”

The bigger question now is who or what is it going to be. It seems that it won’t be revealed until production for the movie begins sometime soon.

A superhero movie about family

Contrary to reports that “The Incredibles 2” shall have a six-year time jump despite the fact that it will be shown some 15 years after the first movie hit the theaters, Disney has not said anything about it at all.

Thus, it is likely that the sequel will pretty much settle with the 15-year gap between the two movies. This would mean that the characters from the first film will be much older, with Violet and Dash as young adults and Jack-Jack as a teenager, details the Christian Post.

The parents, Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl, may have either retired by then or will at least be taking the backseat in superhero work. Thus, it is possible that the three siblings will be the main superheroes in “The Incredibles 2.”

In a previous interview, Director Bird said that the most interesting thing he likes about “The Incredibles” is not the superhero part of it but the family dynamics and how do superhero things play into that. He confirmed that “The Incredibles 2” will be a movie that shall head into that direction.

He also said that he does have a story idea that he thinks is very intriguing and not like anything else for “The Incredibles 2.”

An important role

In the first “The Incredibles” movie shown in 2004, Frozone was a good friend of the superhero Parr family. He and Mr. Incredible were part of a team at the beginning before partnering again towards the end to defeat Syndrome.

Frozone was voiced by Hollywood veteran actor Samuel L. Jackson. In a recent interview, Jackson said every time he runs into Director Brad Bird, the latter always tells him that Frozone will be an important part of the sequel, without going into any specifics.
