Additionally, “Guardians of the Galaxy 2” is not reliant on any “Avengers” movie. It is a stand-alone film that could or could not be connected to Marvel.
On June 3, Gunn shared a screenshot of the title page of the draft. He said he spent 48 straight days working on this first draft. He did not even take a day off that is why he also apologized for his family and friends whom he thinks he has ignored while he was writing.
When asked about Marvel’s thoughts on his first draft, Gunn said he already told the company about it and they said it is okay. Marvel told him that since he already has the big picture on where the Marvel cinematic universe is going, they know he will not create any conflict between the characters.
“Guardians of the Galaxy 2” begins filming in February 2016 and will be released in May 2017.
