We all know that you sat through the hours and hours of film that came along with the The Hobbit series. Once you saw the last film you were hoping, like the rest of the world, that you were going to be able to see more of the awesome story that was set in a somewhat realistic fantasy land. Well, you wish might have been answered by someone as The Hobbit is due back in theaters this year.
An extended version of The Hobbit is expected to arrive in a theater near you in October of this year. In case you were suffering from withdrawals, now you can plan a date and see an extended theatrical version of your favorite trilogy. Warner Bros. has made an announcement this week stating that the extended version of The Hobbit trilogy will be in theaters in the United States in a couple of months. To show the studio is serious, they released a trailer along with the announcement.
The first thing you might be asking yourself is whether you can sit through nine more hours of The Hobbit, but in order to see the extended version of the movies, the odds are good that you will since you are a fan. The first of the three-night, three movie event is scheduled to hit theaters on the fifth of October. The next movie, “The Desolation of Smaug” will appear on the seventh with the “Battle of the Five Armies” coming to a theater near you on the thirteenth.
In case you were thinking that you would be able to see the trilogy all over again in your little rural town movie theater, you might want to think again. Because this is a special event, the movie is only going to be released in select theaters around the country during that time frame. The selected theaters is only going to total 500 when all is said and done, so the odds that everyone will be able to see it without traveling to another city is quite small.
The first two movies in the series have been shown in extended fashion already, but this will be the first time that “The Battle of the Five Armies” is shown as an extended movie to the public. The might create a little buzz for the event, so if you are interested in going, you might want to secure tickets as fast you can. The extended version of movies is usually different enough to notice, so make sure you bring your glasses so you can be one to notice. It was also rumored that the extended version of “The Battle of the Five Armies” has been rated “R”.
