The Hobbit 3 Reportedly Grosses $600 Million Internationally, Franchise Brought in a Total of Nearly $3 Billion!

It was pretty obvious that “The Hobbit” was a popular franchise right from the start, when the first film came out and managed to attract people in huge numbers all over the world. Recently, its third installment came out, and it has reportedly managed to bring in a total of $600 million across the globe, owing largely to a fantastic debut in China.

The total profits from the film were last reported at around $866 million, which, although less than the individual profits from the previous film, is still a pretty impressive number. Some were expecting the third installment to actually perform better, but it was pretty close in its success anyway, and fans still recognized the overall high production quality of the film.

The franchise, as a whole, has been enjoying great critical reception, as well as strong reactions from fans, even though some critics were initially skeptic of the idea of stretching the book into three long films. In the end, the producers found a way to make it work, and none of the films in the series looked boring, or felt like they were dragging on for too long.

Meanwhile, it was also reported that the whole franchise has managed to bring in a total of $3 billion in profits, something which has been getting far less recognition than it probably deserves. This is a very impressive number, even in today’s world when films are expected to score huge profits in the first place, at least productions of this quality. The exact number has been given as $2.916 billion in the last report, which would make the franchise a very good return on its investment.

Reports on the individual profits from each film have been published by various journalists, including some very detailed ones that analyze how each film has performed both internationally as well as in specific parts of the world. And it’s pretty clear that there are lots of film fans across the globe who are hungry for this kind of adventure, and would probably enjoy seeing even more.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

There’s certainly plenty of potential in other works of literature in the fantasy genre, and since the industry has been focusing on slightly different topics lately, now could be a good time for some studios to start paying more attention to fantasy films and try to breathe some fresh life into them. Especially today, when we have advanced so far with CGI and special effects, the potential for a massive, breathtaking production is huge, and “The Hobbit” has already shown that it could very realistically score huge profits if it’s executed right.
