The Hobbit 3 And All The Armies Take The Box Office By Storm!

Lord of the Rings has been one of the most successful series of movies of all time and recently just put the period at the end of the sentence with The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. The movie has been one of the most anticipated over the last 12 months and now that it has hit the theaters, it is all about the money. According to reports, the movie brought in a cool $56 million in the first weekend and more than $90 million within the first 5 days.

The other movies that opened in the same weekend did not do as well, with Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb only coming in with $17 million and Annie bringing in just $16 million. The Hobbit 3 movie was also shown in IMAX and that brought in another $13 million. The $90 million that the movie brought in during the first five days is about the same that was brought in when the second movie was in theaters in 2012.

The first movie, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug was the first of the last three movies and brought in just $76 million during the same time frame. It makes sense that the last two movies would bring in more than the first as more people were getting excited to see them when they came out. Peter Jackson has been releasing good movies since 2001 and it looks like The Hobbit movies are going to follow the same path.

Some of the stats that came along with the movie included percentages like 49% in 3D, 15% IMAX, 60% over the age of 25 and 60% of the audience being male. Those numbers are very interesting, but most likely have been about the same with each of the movies, save the IMAX numbers. The release of the last movie worldwide has brought in a cool $753 million at the box office, just blowing the competition out of the water as usual.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

The Hobbit 3 movie is the final installment to the novel by J.R.R. Tolkien and takes fans on one last epic adventure. The Hobbit has reportedly only going to be a two part film, but plans for the third film were already in place by the summer of 2012. The third film was needed to expand on the story of Middle Earth as J. R. R. Tolkien told it in the best selling novel. The first two films had a lot of extra footage that was never used and that, Peter Jackson said, would make it into the third film, The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies.
